Pickup question...
Hey there, new to GT and thought I'd ask this quick question on the forum. I'm looking to install a DiMarzio X2N in the bridge of my Ibanez S570B, aswell as a LiquiFire in the neck and a Fast Track One in the middle. Does this seem like a logical selection for a "do it all" guitar? any responses would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Hi LiamCroft64, wish I could be of more help but I don't know those pickups. I'm into Seymour Duncans myself. I've heard good things about Dimarzios though.

Hi LiamCroft!
s570 is a nice guitar! Does yours have a quilted maple top, or spalted, or solid color?
If I'm not mistaken, that's a HSH configuration. I went with Dimarzio Tone Zone and Air Norton, but I'm not into thrash or metal. Left the single coil in the middle, but may eventually get a True Velvet. If sticking with Dimarzio, make sure the pickups are F spacing.

Not familiar with the specific pickups but make sure you know whether your guitar is wired with 4 wire humbuckers or 2 wire humbuckers before you buy the wrong ones...
Generally for an all around axe you should always avoid super high output and ceramic magnet pickups. Anything in the AlNiCo family of magnets would be a well balanced pickup. The idea would be to give you something in the middle of the output range that you could supplement gain with either amp or pedals... take that into account and you should be in good shape to end up with a nice axe.

Anyone who has spent time trying to figure out their pick up ideal will proably tell that they tried a number of guitars with the 'target' pick up or at leasted some good money on pick ups the didn't much like.
I remember that everyone was getting Duncan JB's at one point in the 80's. Everyone around me was like 'It's a cleaner pick for distortion'..or some such baloney.
I bit and I hated that pick up. Just did not like it at all.
Pick ups are funny animals because they react to the guitar they're in (wood type, weight, quality of pots etc) and they react to the player too. they also are used in conjunction with an amp and the desired tone type the player prefers.
I don't think anyone here could really answer if a pick up would work in your guitar. Perhaps if they've had them, they can explain an experience if someone had one of the described pick ups, cool.
Hard otherwise.
For the record, I swap out for an EMG 89 and loved that pick up...and some people hate them.....
...and that's kinda of the point. It has to work for you.
