Just wanted to spam the boards for a minute and let you guys know a little about myself, and maybe you can tell me a little about yourselves (if you want).
Age---34
Guitars---1986 Gibson SG reissue and junky Westone Dimesion4
that I have only because I have the wammy bar set really high for some supersonic screams.
Amp---Marshall, or course, what else do you use with an SG?
Yes, I grew up admiring Angus Young, till I learned how easy it is to play...although he is still the best at what he does.
Effects---only a Crybaby wah pedal.
Musical tastes---I really listen to everything (even some of that rock/rap crap)...but I prefer hard rock, blues, and heavy metal.
I really only hate (sorry, this will be my last bashing), grunge and that new whiny alternative/acoustic stuff.
Group tapes I have most of----AC/DC
Group cd's---I have the box sets of AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, and Lynyrd Skynyrd....all of which you must hear.
Favorite drink---beer
Favorite internet sites---guitar and porn..lol

I have about 2 full tapes of original songs with the guitar parts (chords and most solos), and the words written down, but just have never hooked up with the right bunch of people to jam them with..they are probably too dated for some of the new guys as they are more 80ish metal sounding.
Now I have moved OUT in the country where I don't think anyone plays this kind of music, so I will probably just rot away.lol.
Well, I won't bore you any longer, just a little FYI about me.

I am 16, and from Bridgewater, Massachusetts. I have been at this site numerous times, but I have just recently become a member. I have a Jackson SL-2, a fender strat, and a martin acoustic. I play through a Mesa/Boogie mark IV and im a big steve vai/joe satriani/dream theater fan.

Cool, I want a gibson SG big time. I have an old epiphone genesis, which is a set neck, double cut-a-way. Heavier than
some paul's though. It has a great sound and stays tuned. Or as close to tuned as my ears can tell. Still want that SG. And you're right, marshall is it. I used to have one of the early marshall 50 watt heads made in England with no preamp. Used to use an old beat up rickenbacher practice amp to overdrive it. It was mated up with a huge orange cab with twin 15 altecs. Man what a monster. I had to sell it with my van cause the damn thing wouldn't fit in a toyota. Now I have an old musicman 50 watter...much smaller but still kicks. Also came across an old fender vibrachamp. Tough sounding little amp...love those tubes..although I must confess some of the valvestates I've heard sound pretty convincing...a far cry from those early peavey's.
Well if I ever finish building this house I'm working on and spending every penny on I am going to save up and get my SG.

Nice to meet ya guys...a jackson or ESP is what I want next.
I was lucky enough to buy my Gibson while I stilled lived off the folks, I know what you mean about a house taking all your money and time...oh how I know.
I hope you get an SG, it is the easiest thing in the world to play, almost plays itself.
Albo, you got that G3 video with Joe Satraini, Steve Vai, and Eric Johnson?
It is the greatest video I've ever seen. We don't get the good shows around here so I have to rely on video to see the people I like.

I'm from the south of France, I have a custom guitar (lag Roxanne, http://www.lag.fr ) an Epiphone Emperor, an Ibanez Django( that's an electro acoustic) an epiphone biscuit (it's a dobro like guitar) and I'm going to get a 7 strings (still haven't received it).
I teach music to young kids and guitar to adults. I also write kids tunes, and occasionally play at sessions and gigs...

Lalimacefolle,
I have relatives in France..all over..nieces and nephews in and around Paris, An aunt in Nice and another in
Boursoul (I think I spelled that right) up on the northeastern coast. My father is French and my mother was from London. Anyway, that has nothing to do with music other than I listened to my share of Edith Piaf when I was young.

Edith Piaf is quite great, because she brings so much feeling in her voice. She has sung great melodies (I don't know if she wrote them). I'm quite close to Nice (it's a 2 hours drive).
Do you know Georges BRASSENS? Now you can listen to the guy, he has great melodies too, and his lyrics are better!!

No I have never heard of Brassens...and I don't have a clue as to who wrote the songs Piaf sung but I know my dad was in Love with her...Girl had a voice. I am currently getting hammered at work so msg will be short, I work for an airline since I can't rely on my talent or lack of to make a living.
