You need to get out more.

I've seen nu-metalish bands that I consider to be absolute doggy-poo and the crowd is still nuts. Yeah, Kid Rock's music sucks, but he's got good stage presence and can work a crowd, and he's just one example.

And there is a lot of badass new music out there, but you'll never hear it because you're not making the effort to find it.

All I can say (well, obviously not all, seeing as I've already posted) is that I'm sort of glad that there aren't more amazing bands out there, as I have a hard enough time keeping up with buying albums as it is! Seriously, there are so many albums coming out in every field that I want, and I can never get them all; heaps of bands just fall through the cracks in my wallet.

Never heard Clutch, but I'll sure make a point of listening to'em. If they rock, they gotta roll!

You'll love them or hate them. Their earlier stuff was pretty hard core. After a few years of that, they got more into funky, grooving, almost classic rock stuff. Clutch, The Elephant Riders, and Jam Room are what I consider to be their best albums. They're pro-bootleging (so long as it's done on a trade for trade basis), so there's boots you can trade for/download all over the place. Check http://labproductions.com/clutch/ and http://www.pro-rock.com (their web site) for more info.

Lab Productions has a lot of songs you can download, and it's cool with the band. I've heard some of their newest stuff at recent shows. Sea of Destruction is one badass tune. I can't wait for them to record it.

Hey Rask...(Rask IS right)..listening to Bass, the final frontier right now and checked out a few other tracks. You ain't whistlin' dixie. They are good. Killer sound. I'm not sure who they remind me of...and that is usually good. Gotta thank you again. For me finding new music that I like is almost as good as finding a new woman. (almost!) Of course, I've been married long enough to just about forget what that's like....but I am not complaining ...wouldn't trade that gal for anything.....thanks once again.

hey people i forgot to tell you, i have so much to say,
that i dont hate everything after early 80s
I like godsmack, a lot, i met sully
Korn is pretty awesome, tehy are very heavy
Megadeath rules
I am a classic, heavy, pure rocker
But what mean is that the new people need to take
more time into their instruments
I mean not all new guitarist suck
Like Mark Tremonti from Creed
he is awesome but i dont like their singer
that really doesnt matter though
I like heavy and i love classic and 80s
It just pisses me off that somebody can make
millions of dollars on a crappy song
If the new age bands put a lot more time into it i would
sure listen to them more often
but there has only been a few new people with that attitude
where they have a kicka$$ influence in playing guitars

hey i can believe this thread has lasted so long

Perhaps some new bands arent aiming their music squarely at you. Just cause youd listen to them if they had 56 minute guitar solos betweeen each verse doesnt mean anyone else will. Theyre playing what they want to play, you dont like it. They have alot of fans so they must be doing something right.

The last concert I went to was Eric Johnson. The crowd was pretty mellow (as you'll imagine). During the opening band's set the whole crowd was sitting down . . . lol.

Anyway, you're right. (Yup, Rask is right . . . in this particular case) A friend of mine went to a Linkin Park concert a while ago, and it was pretty wild. Nothing compared to the AC/DC-Metallica stadium filling madness back in the day, but still pretty wild.

You obviously don't play bass or drums.

OK, that's equally rediculous as saying new music sucks. Good music is good music is good music, and good music is timeless. Now Ozzy's voice sucks, and it has sucked since he started talking. BUT it's also pretty likeable. I like Ozzy's voice though he lacks any and all range and has no accuracy. Ozzy can't write music, and he can't write lyrics, so why is he idolized? Well, he's a crazy bastard and he's a master of working an audience.

So whatever. He's been on the scene for over thirty years and has had a hand in TOTALLY reshaping the music world. Give him some credit.

Oh no... I knew this day would come. Although I had always hoped that this board would be free off nu-rock, nu-metal fans who define a talented guitarist by the amount of "MTV Video Awards" their band has won.

Next I'm going to be hearing about how N'SYNC's session guitarist is where its at.

By the way, I loved the part about the "OLD MANS CONCERT". How old are you might I ask?

aight hold on one second here. I was a little too lazy to turn off the caps so ur goin to have to deal with that. second of all why does new music blow? I mean there are bands nowdays that scream until they loose their voice (slipknot, mudvaine, some deftones, etc.) that is not music. But u can not cut down the newer age of music simply because of these bands.

U have been eliminatedd.......

I would never be so obtuse as to write off an entire AGE of music (such as you did with your comment about "old man's music). There is a ton of great, new, progressive music out there. However, I respectfully submit to you that Creed isn't one of these bands, and that these bands won't be found on MTV.
