Hi all, thanks for the great site! I have been a member for over a year now and have been nothing but impressed with the instructors and material. However...

...can something be done about the site performance; especially in the evening hours (Eastern U.S.)? I have 50M+ download speeds, but the streaming lessons still hang multiple times each time I bring them up. It would be great to have these stream all the way through.

Hopefully the performance is because you have sooooo many new users! Thanks for any help you can provide.

Sounds like an internet/ISP congestion problem. First, do some connection speed tests (do a search to find one for you). If the tests show significant differences during different parts of the day it might be time to call your provider for a solution as it may be *their* problem...

Still, my own speeds are far slower (consistently 1.3 Mbs) and I never experience hangup/stutter problems. Maybe you've got a system issue such as a resource hog, a virus, etc. Take a look at this; "10 Ways to Increase Your Internet Speed" http://www.blogtyrant.com/increase-internet-download-speed/

And perhaps using the old GT player instead of the new player and/or using low resoution (which I do) instead of high will bring about smoother lesson video play.

Hi amasters,
First, thanks for being nice about it. I know that can get really frustrating. There are a lot of reasons why you might get slow connectivity, and only one of those reasons is under GT control. Our systems are all working fine and we are not getting widespread reports of problems like yours. So the problem is likely local to you/your ISP.

Often these problems solve themselves in a few days. So you might want to just wait a few days before calling your ISP and going through all that. For example, after Hurricane Sandy a lot of people on the east coast had trouble accessing GT, but that has all resolved itself without people having to work it out on their own.

John is giving you some good advice, so if you want to try to get to the bottom of it, try his advice and let us know how it goes?

Jon and John,

Thanks to both of you for your thoughts and feedback. I will continue to keep track of when and where I'm having the streaming delays. I do connect using multiple computers (Mac and Windows, iPad and Surface tablet) and from multiple locations all around the U.S.; and sometimes overseas. I do always run Internet connection speed tests to see if there is an issue with latency or simply bandwidth.

That said, having worked as an IT professional for 30+ years, I fully understand there are a lot of reasons for Internet traffic delays. Since you're not getting this feedback from anyone else (which was partly the purpose for my posting this on a thread - to see if others provided the same feedback), I'll look to a few other options to see what works.
