I am just starting out and have been messing around with some tabs and chords before I start taking lessons next month. A few tabs have a triad notation, such as:

_3_
e--323-------
B------------
G------------
D------------
A------------
E------------

I have read up on why Triads are, but cannot find any reference on how to play them. Any help?

Say that you're in a 4/4 rhythm.
That's 4 beats, 1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4.
If you play a triad, play 3 notes on every beat.

4/4-> 1 2 3 4
123123123123

like bo-ba-ba bo-ba-ba bo-ba-ba bo-ba-ba.

So I take it, all you do is play the triad listed notes really fast (faster than the rest of the score)? Something like a quick hammer-on/pull-off combo or such?

Just to clear things up here, you guys are talking about triplets. There is a difference between triplets and triads. Triplets are rhythmic devices that contain three notes of equal length squeezed into one beat. A triad is a melodic device. It is basically the 1, 3, and 5 of a chord. For instance, if you played C, E, G, that is a major triad. Triads have all sorts of inversions.

Ekstasis I found out that after I disconnected. The tab he wrote was a triplet, so therefore I was fooled...

This makes sense now. The tab I have (Welcome Home from Metallica) has the notation I posted noted as a triad in the tab notation description, hence my original question, since this did not coincide with what I assumed a triad was. I finally purchased a book with a better tab in it and it has it listed exactly as I thought it was to be played: fast with a hammer-on/pull-off combo.

Thanks all.
