Guitar Tricks works on iPad and iPhone

We just completed a big project to prepare all the videos to work on iPhones and iPads.

Early testing shows it works great on the lessons, but there are a few minor issues with marketing videos and the front page player. We'll fix all that next week, but still you should find it quite useful as-is.

If you have an android phone, please try that too and we'll see. I am not sure what the android requirements are for it to work, so let me know what you have and if it works.


If it doesn't work, copy/paste these questions and answer them?

1. What device are you using:
2: What is your OS and version (iphone find this at settings->general->about->version)
3. Do no videos work, or just some videos:
4. If just some videos, which ones:
5. What does it do instead of working:
[ ] do you see a big red "you need flash" warning?
[ ] do you see a stillframe of the video, with no play button?
[ ] do you see a stillfram of the video, with a play button, but it won't play?
6. Any other info that might help?

Where is there something on the download process? Do you just right click on the title and save it that way?

Hi from germany,

While the videos work fine on my Ipad1, i get "Flash required messages" for all mp3 Play alongs.

Are there any workarounds or plans to fix this?

Hey Jon, great work!! The videos work perfectly on the iPad. Are there any plans to covert the Flash created tools to work on the iPad too - perhaps as an app? Cheers.

I just called up Guitar Tricks on my iPad and was pleasantly surprised to see that the lessons now play on the device. Great job guys - so much for that fleeting thought to try out another online service!

Hi GT my phone is android galaxy s2 and i'm jst getting note that videos can't be played. can u help.

Hi Gt i just went to subscription page and video for that just played. Went back to see if lessons played but NO go. how come ! !

That's the exact opposite of what we'd expect. The lessons pages should be fine, but the non-lesson (subscription etc) pages are not all converted yet.


Are you having trouble with all lessons or just some? What device are you using?

Hi Joe,

I use the iPad2 to view Guitar Tricks lessons, and it works perfectly for me. I have it sitting on my coffee table in the living room, and its a pleasure to do lessons this way.

I will be even happier when you get jam station and tuner working :)


I do have one little suggestion (for Guitar Tricks in general). After vierwing a video, and clicking on Next Lesson, it would be nice if the video would start automatically.

We would like to, but it is a big job. All the files are in flash format, so we would have to convert them all and create a new player. I have not ETA for you.

Where the video should be, it's just a blank/white rectangular space.

It works fine on my iPad, and I can see on the logs lots of people using iPads.

I don't have an iPad2, it could be there is a problem with that.

Will you go to this fake page so I can find you in the logs and see if there is anything unusual about your browser profile?

Guitar Tricks used to work fine on my iPhone 4 and on my iPad2. But today when I logged in, it didnt work (on either device). All I see is a white space where the video should be.
