I'm talking about the best CD, all around - not just a single song. And 'best of's and 'greatest hits's don't count.
Mine is:

Counting Crows - "August and Everything After"

The live CD 'dire straits on the night'
It's the best sounding live CD I have ever heard, any song kicks ass, and they are played non stop, as if they were one huge song... And Mark KNOFLER's tone...mmmmh

hmmmm... it depends on my mood, and it changes depending on whether i've heard it recently or not, but at the minute it's probably one of:
  • Any other city- by life without biuldings

  • Post or debute - by bjork

  • sytem of a down or toxcicity- by system of a down

  • electric lady land- by jimmi hendrix

  • or maybe a single, which would be "cedar room" by the dover, a very mellow single (3 tracks)...

At this time, it's my Hoobastank cd. Probably if you ask me next week it'll be something else. ;)

If you are a Led Zeppelin fan just as I am, then you may agree that their BBC Sessions is one of the BEST Cd's ever recorded. It basically has all of their greatest songs in a continuous and very well played live jam.

I have a couple of favourites in different genres. These are albums I think are fantastic, not ones that I am necessarily listening to right now.
Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde is about as close to perfection on a rock album as has ever been reached. I can never leave this album at home because I never know when I will need to listen to it again.
For jazz I can't argue with Miles' Kind of Blue, though John Coltrane's A Love Supreme must be up there as one of the greatest jazz albums ever.
"Dozens of people spontaneously combust each year, it's just not that widely reported".

Well, this is a tough one. Cause I can't really compare music across genres. Here's a few good ones though -

Classic rock - The Wall, Pink Floyd
    Nu-Metal - Home, Sevendust
Hair Metal - the Metallica Black Album
    Instrumental - Crystal Planet, Satch
    Soundtrack - The Crow

friskynibbles, I liked OK COMPUTER better than Kid A. I'd say that Computer is one of my top favorites. I keep on going back to this 80's band called Pop Will Eat Itself - This is the Day...This is the Hour...This is This. What a title :) One of the best songs from that CD is Wise Up! Sucker . Get that song. It's pretty catchy. It's one of the few songs that actually has a guitar solo in it.Well, The Fuses Have Been Lit sort of has a guitar "part" in it but it's not a solo.

PWEI's Cure For Sanity album was what made me feel that KID A wasn't as original as the critics made it out to be. There's a song called Touched by the Hand of Cicciolina (Edited Highlights) that does everything that is done in the entire Kid A album in 7 minutes(Orchestra horns combined with electronic music, ambient sounds, and echoing vocals). Plus it was made back in 1990.

i just like how doped up i feel when i crank "kid 'a'"... karma police is one of my favorite songs though *sigh*
whoever said they liked Sevendust's disc - I agree. Didn't really like "Appetite for Destruction" though... not my kind of music.

im not saying that coz i am a fanatical person who worships them or anything (but i do!!!!!), its just i honestly do think they are the best rock band on the planet

i think the 1 album whould have to be...... erm........ oooo....... OK Computer, coz of paranoid android. close behind though are The Bends and I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings

i also have to metion Zep IV and II, The Smiths and Queen: Live at Wembly coz they are all ace too!

they were selling Grace for £6 in MVC... and I DIDNT HAVE ANY GODDDDAAAMMMM money!!!... great album... then again he's a great giutarist (because he conveys emotions very well)... I heard it a couple of time when a freind lent it to me way back... I wish i'd bought it back then... I might go and look see if it's still there on Monday.. but knowing my luck it wont be... like the fantastic John lee hooker double cd which was £5, I had no money on me at the time... a day later it's gone :(...
