I'm so disappointed, I thought that all the songs that you can learn had the backing tracks that you can down load. Whats the use of learning a song you can't play to. What now. Do I have to buy them too? I wanted to play " I just want to celebrate" for the contest, but its gonna sound stupid with out the music!

Backing tracks? Why would you want backing tracks? Are you going to bring a stereo with you everywhere you go to play guitar?

Your kidding me right, What fool would want to play a" part" of a song? Boy how entertaining that would be. Look everybody, I can play the guitar part for "I just want to celebrate" It sound like crap by itself. And anyway, this is 2010 pal, most regular amps have aux in ,and pre amp outs, so you hook your mp3 player to the amp with the backing tracks, connect the pre outs to the sound board and their you have it A band ready for any open mic fun. but without the backing tracks, you sit at home thinking "I coulda been a somebody"

Hi Steve.

Sorry to hear about your troubles here. I don't work for GT, but do know that they have to go through a substantial amount of legal processes in order to be able to even do these songs from artists, as well as pay fees. I don't believe that GT is trying to fool anyone. If I had to guess, it would be that there are legal issues involved that prevent them from being able to supply backing tracks.

While it may leave you (<--Steve) wanting more, I think it's very cool that they can offer up this service to folks.

Distributable material means that they would have to pay royalties. In as far as a financial decision, I don't know this for sure but I assume it would be more cost. My thought is that offering songs at all would then be less feasible.

I also think that since so many songs have multiple parts that it would be hard to make a backing track that removes the part you want.

Reality is, this is teaching site much in the way a personal teacher at store would be. From that perspective, I guess I wouldn't have thought that personalized content such as downloadable tracks would have been part of the package. They are trying to teach you how to play. What you do with it from there is your prerogative.

"fooled again" what do you want for the money the site asks for, its very little for the expert tuition (no please dont put the price up). if you had been paying double then maybe but you could probably have asked the question before you joined.

I think for the quality of the videos that you can download i would challenge you to find better value for money.

People gripe about magazines and how many songs they have in tab per issue but its the same thing, its expensive. This site is VERY low cost for what you get but thats not even the point really. They have free lessons and explain in detail the service and have a forum to ask questions before you buy and money back guarantee. Whats the problem?

Hey Steve, here's a simple solution. When you want to play a particular song, just put the song on you stereo system and play/jam over it. Sure we can hear the original guitar behind what you play (its a good thing for timing by the way) but its better then nothing.
When you get to the stage where you want to improv, having the original track with the guitars on it is a good way to try to improvise while trying to "fit" with the other guitar and the rest of the band

If you film yourself playing with the original track behind you, nobody will say: "wow that sucks"....everyone does it :)
Just put the volume a bit lower then your amp so its you we hear the most.

Steve, if Sab's simple solution is not good enough. Get yourself a good sequencer (I use a Yamaha QY100) and DAW software (I use MUsic creator pro). Then do a search on the internet for the MIDI version of the song you learned here. Download it and load it on to the software. Mute out the guitar part you want to play. AND BINGO, you can play until your fingers fall off. But I would not expect GT to violate any copyright or legal agreement because no one would trust them with any material.

"Fool Again", I was not. Would I like more of what "I like", of couse. But music is like colors. Everyone has their favorites.
