Niel,

This, for me, was definitely your best tip so far. I think you should do some lessons............maybe geared toward the Joe Bonamassa style.

I particularly like the YouTube Tips & Lessons. Short, sweet, easy to digest and useful.

Isn't it funny how you and I can capitalize on some poor guy's thread and take it way off topic?

Hey Al,

Glad you liked the tip!

I don't know Joe's style well but I'll consider the request.

Rick, the NL went out a little late Friday for some reason but you should have it by now.

Where do you sign up to receive the newsletter? I just get the TOW from the front page, but it doesn't seem to be updated weekly and I just LOVE the Guitar Cha Cha Cha Channel !

Neil:

I have a question about your tip #47 - the two most important notes. I understand it is the third and the seventh taken from the minor scale(in this case G and D) In the examples you are using the key of E. Does that idea work in songs in both minor and major keys of E, or one and not the other. If I am playing in major keys are they the same notes(from the minor scale) Obviously in a major scale the third and the seven are different notes(a G#, and D#). I know playing minor scales over major keys is pretty common in rock and blues. I seem to be missing something as it doesn't seem to sound very good when I am playing the 2 minor scale notes of E against a song in E major( for example , the progression of I VI V IV) . Are there other factors to be considered or am I just not happening to get the groove.

I really could use more tips along these lines for soloing. I

Thanks

Rick's a pretty darn good guitar player. Pretty, perhaps but I give him credit not just being that but actaully being able to play. :)

Hi guitarplayer196,

The 'two most important notes' would apply to the minor scale only in this lesson. They won't work well with the major scale. I should clarify!

Soloing tips seem to be the most in demand. I'll definitely be working on some new tips to share on the channel. Major key soloing would be a welcome addition, I think.

Thanks! :)

Thanks for clarifying -I recall another GT instructor saying that rock can be summed up as playing minor scales over major keys - guess there's more to that than he led on.

Without stealing your thunder for an upcoming lesson, for major key soloing, what would you say are the 2 most important degree notes.

My biggest problem is like you say in the video - I know all sorts of scales, and some theory but have a hard time applying them in a practical live improvising soloing situation without getting overwhelmed(which causes me usually to back off and not try them at all).

I'm at the point where I just need small chunks of info, and then start utilizing them.

thanks for all the help

Not funny at all. Then again it seems to be typical for you and this Razbo dude to do this so I should probably mind my own business. It just feels like the RickBlacker/Razbo Double Act dominates the forum sometimes.....
