Pickup Pole Adjusting

Iv'e adjusted the hight of my pups, no problem, but yet to try and adjust the individual poles. I'm interested in trying this because on my SD JB pup, I've noticed that my lower strings burry my upper strings when playing chords or when playing arpeggios.

leads me to believe that I need to adjust the poles on the high strings a bit closer to the strings to get a bit more volume.

So, my question, are there any tricks you guys use to ensure that each string rings and pups out at the same DB levels? I happen to have a sound meter, but, not sure that it would be accurate enough. Going to give it a try none the less.

Interesting here are the measurments I just took...

E : 0
B : 0
G : -1
D : -2
A : -2
E : -4


Not sure I would have expected this... It seems as though the lower strings are much drowning out the upper B and E strings, yet those two strings are pumping out more DBs...

Counter intuitive. Could partially be the human ear maybe picks up the bass stronger. Have you tried just dropping the bass side of the pup a bit?

Not on this guitar. ON this one, the pup is screwed directly onto the body. I may try to shim it or something.... BUT, I have grown tired of farting with retuning a floyd... However, I do need to put new strings on it. I'll put something under the pup so that I springs it up so I can adjust it I suppose.

I just find it odd that the db levels are higher on the strings that seem to get drowned out.

Could be the neck wood, could be the body wood. Hell, might just be the nature of the JB pup itself.

the beck pickup is nice. could you not control the bass with
a eq or something?

it's not the bass so much as it just seems as though the high E and B strings don't sound as loud, and are getting overshadowed by the thicker E and A strings.

Oh and yeah, I LOVE the JB.... I also love the George Lynch Screamn' Deamon...

i havent played through a demon yet. ive heard some very mixed reviews on it. the ones that didnt like it all picked the beck over the lynch though.
ive been thinking of a lynch for my jackson, but i honestly dont have any problems with the jackson pickup. it sounds really sweet.

As you can see in my sig, I have two versions of the Lynch. The guitar body is alder.

my girlfriend just bought me a fender strat 50th ann.
it was a collectable gift. after playing it a couple times
thats what got me started back playing again.
this guitar is flawless. not a single hint of a scratch on it nowhere.
its burnt orange with a silver pearl pickguard and inlays.
man if i could just let you play it for 5 minutes. this thing
is so dang sweet. has the nashville noiseless pickups.
the tone of those pups is sweet, i couldnt believe it.
they dont care for the hardness of my boss heavy metal
pedal though. i need to find something they can really sing with.
