Jagmaster opinions?
I am looking to possible buy a Jagmaster. The look of the guitar is one of the main reasons and liked how it sounded in the store. My concern is the short scale. I have been playing guitar for a few months on a rental and was wondering what are the positives and negatives to the 24" scale. Aslo am I doing a deservice to myself by learning in the future on a short scale? ex. wont be able to adjust to larger scale guitars or lose something in the sound. Very intersested in your opinions thanks.

I'm partial to the 24 3/4 scale myself. I have pretty short fingers and, although the benefits might be mostly phsychological, I still go with it. :)
There are some pros & cons to each scale. You supposedly get a better bottom end from a 25 1/2, but a warmer sound from 24 3/4. 24 3/4 is easier to bend. There are other considerations if you Google it, you'll get some interesting reading, such as here: http://www.electric-guitar-review.com/2006/07/12/your-guitars-scale-length-a-primer/

...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.

Thanks. That was a good sight. Have any of you played the Jagmaster I was curious what you think of it. Also is 24" to small that sight only talked about 24.75-25.5. Thanks

I haven't played a Jagmaster but have played an old Jaguar. The 24 thing didn't bother me at all. I have average to average/smaller hands and the Jag was very comfortable to play. The 24" neck makes the neck tension a little less and string bending seems to be a bit easier compared to a full scale Strat.
If there are any negatives of a 24 neck are that it is less balanced with intonation etc. That's not a hugely common complaint as far as I've heard but I've read it in a place or two. I think it's a matter of getting a good quality set up done with the right strings (.10's and not .09's) and you'd be good to go.
I'd look it up on Musicians Friend and read the reviews. I always do that before a little bit of gear purchase. Sure, you will see a few sourpusses not matter what but if the overall feedback is good, that should tell you.
