I haven't played a Jagmaster but have played an old Jaguar. The 24 thing didn't bother me at all. I have average to average/smaller hands and the Jag was very comfortable to play. The 24" neck makes the neck tension a little less and string bending seems to be a bit easier compared to a full scale Strat.

If there are any negatives of a 24 neck are that it is less balanced with intonation etc. That's not a hugely common complaint as far as I've heard but I've read it in a place or two. I think it's a matter of getting a good quality set up done with the right strings (.10's and not .09's) and you'd be good to go.

I'd look it up on Musicians Friend and read the reviews. I always do that before a little bit of gear purchase. Sure, you will see a few sourpusses not matter what but if the overall feedback is good, that should tell you.
