what is the iron maiden sound, by the way? i have only ehard them a few times ( didnt they make inna godda dovita...or was that iron butterfly...?)
Innagoddadavida was recored in the psychedelic 60's by Iron Butterfly. It covered the entire side of one album. I believe this was something like 27 minutes long.
Any idea what "Innagoddadavida" means? I'll post it later.
Iron Maiden came around the early 80's(?) from England. Very progressive heavy metal band. Dave Murray was the driving force behind the "Iron Maiden sound" and a premier guitarist of the day. Murray is an excellent guitarist and lead singer Bruce Dickinson was one of the first "screamers" to arrive on vinyl. Also, bass artiste Steve Harris had the finesse to lay down bass lines that accentuated Murray's guitar gymnastics.
They have had some personnel changes, so I am not sure who is in Maiden at the moment. I never had the pleasure of seeing them live, but I have heard some recordings of them live. Dave Murray NEVER plays the same song the same way twice.
Back in the mid to late 80's, Iron Maiden was all I listened to. This was the "Murders in the Rue Morgue" era of Maiden. I followed them until their album Seventh son of a Seventh Son was released. It was strange. Had a lot of synthesizer and weird sounds in the mix. Nothing at all like previous Maiden music.
All in all, Maiden was, and still is, a force in the music world and worth listening to. Just not solely.
Let's have a knock down drag out rock'n'roll party in the street!
