Steve Khan -- Chord Khancepts
Do any of you have this book? Someone told me I should check it out and I was wondering if any of you had any thoughts you'd like to share about this book. (Is the book any good, what does the book cover, is the book too complicated for its own good, etc....)

Well, if you like his music & would like to pick his brain this is probably a good place to start.(I assuming your talking about Steve Khan the bass player, who plays electric w/a pick)
I think he's married to Carla Bley, so he's probably got some pretty far-out ideas.

I think Steve Khan is a guitar player, not a bass player. Maybe its the same guy though. I have never really heard any of his music. From what I heard of him, he has some interesting ideas concerning chords. Apparently, his concept of playing chords and moving to different chords focuses heavily on the 3rd and 7th tone of the chords. I was just wondering if there were any good tricks to learn from him that people had come across. I found out that he authored the book Chord Khancepts, but I have never actually come across it in any music store. (fyi Chris: Jimmy's new video is slated to come out by Spring 2002 according to the Hotlicks website. I'll see him next weekend and ask him about the scale he used in Giant Steps. You may want to check out Guitar One. Within the last year they transcribed Giant Steps for guitar)

Did Guitar one transcribe J.B.'s version of Giant Steps? What issue?

I don't know whose version of Giant Steps they transcribed. The music is in the January 2001 issue of Guitar One.
