VG Strat

Has anybody any experience with this guitar? I am thinking about buying one but I need input and feedback on it. Do you need to buy anything else or is the Roland pick up ready to roll? Is it as good as it sounds?? Thanks!!

Whenever buying a guitar, the sure fire thing is to play it before you buy it.

I'll tell you my problem: I live in Mexico and the VG strat is not available anywhere to play, so what I have to do is order it and have a return option. I live 5 hs. from the US border, but I'm very busy with my work as a teacher and translator, so it's not easy to pick up and go try it. Well, it's quite a thing, but I make it work. Tks for your views. That's why I'm asking if anybody has tried it...

Umm... Yeah it's a great guitar, because even if you don't care too much for the effects, there is still a Standard american strat that is fully functional underneath! American strats are simply buttery in your hands, and are almost unmatched in the feel of the fretboard IMO. I would go for it for sure if you've got the money, especially if they take returns.

I wonder what it would cost you in pesos? 200 million? Only thing I can tell you is what I've heard. Gives you numerous sounds, but kinda digital. Never tried one /heard one myself though. I was told that Fender tried to accomplish too much, and this was from a Fender fan (and many of us are purists- not too many bells and whistles), so I guess you have to take this with a grain of salt. I didn't buy a GREAT sounding Strat at a reasonable price because it had a humbucker. Good luck if you buy it. I like my Strats, s-s-s.
True story: coming out of a Guitar Center, some guy offered me the VG for $400, mint, in box. Didn't know what it was until I looked it up in a catalog. Was probably stolen, but if I had a second chance, I honestly don't know what I'd do....Sorry can't give you more insight on what it sounds like.

hey man. wow it's been a while since I've been on the forum.
In my opinion the vg strat is way to expensive for what it is.
I own a 50th anniversary American ash strat and it's awesome.
The trouble I have with the vg is the digital technology, the rate at which the technology is evolving means that you'll be paying lots of cash for a guitar with electronics that will soon be bettered and maybe even replaced in similar models.
My thought is that if you are spending so much, you should be getting your dream guitar. I'd go with something natural, with no soon-to-be-outdated fancy electronics.
