Hi! I, too, have just recently joined. I'm coming up on 72 in January and started picking a little rhythm when I was 12. I finally learned some minor chords and later had a couple of country bands but all I did was sing and play rhythm or bass. I write songs and poems, too. Now I'm trying to learn a little lead and it's sure hard getting the moves from my head to my fingers, but, also, a lot of fun. Guitar Tricks has a lot of great stuff. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do! :)

Jcadla - Have a look for the "Pentatonic Minor" lessons/tutorials to start with. They are a great starting point for any one wanting to start playing lead guitar. Though it is far from the last tool you will learn for soloing, I would predict it (the Pentatonic Minor scale) becoming the backbone for 99% of the stuff you do.. Obviously learning the chromatic scale, major scale and all the other scales and modes is just as important in the long haul.. just that the pentatonic minor is the one the start with in my opinion.
