I nearly fell off my chair laughing then... :D

A little late to the party I know, my only addition is on shyness itself. I used to be painfully introverted as a kid (I guess maybe lots of us were, how the hell did we find all that time to stay indoors and play guitar?). It's actually the guitar that helped me, when I'm on stage it's like it isn't me. I become supremely confident and start showing off in a way I never could in 'real' life.

I guess all I'm going for is, put on your favourite shirt and transform into 'supergriz... girl snagging machine'. Like the others have said, you can ask in a way that doesn't put you too far out there and as long as if you get a negative you behave like it didn''t matter (not like you don't care, just that her turning you down hasn't broken you) then it'll be cool.

Confidence is good, but mine is sometimes mistaken for arrogance, which is worse than no confidence at all. With some girls, 'cute' gets you into their bed, for most it puts you in the 'friend' camp that is very difficult to break free of. I've always thought the most important thing is to be you, otherwise if you get this girl on lies and you stay together, you're looking at maybe 50 years of acting.... man that'll take it outta ya...

As with everything else, it's practice. If you want, you could try asking out a couple of girls who you're actually not very interested in for a warm up, and if they agree go for a drink and be nice, then escort them home - job done.

That's the other one.... girls as we know talk... if you make a good impression with a couple of them, the news travels fast. Having split up with my girlfriend of almost 10 years, I am now pretty friendly with a fair few of her friends... ;)

Wow. Couldn't agree more. While friends party on the weekends I remain planted in the basement mastering my skills, of which I hope will bring much popularity in later days. There's still hope!

Hey Dude try this, Ask her what kind of music she is into and tell her you play a little guitar. And just talk to her about music and FOR GOD SAKE LISTEN when she talks. Then ask her to go check out a local band and get a bite to eat. The rest is up to you. Dont let life pass you by. The reason she probably does not have many friends is that she is also shy.The real pretty ones never have a date or boyfriend because us guys think they are already hooked up and they are not. Think about it. It cant hurt to try Bro!

I'm more or less completely antisocial, so I can't really offer advice, but best of luck, mate. Trust yourself - BE yourself; and don't do your victory dance until you're out of sight :D

Apparently she went on a cruise with her family. What timing. Oh well, gives reason to initiate conversation when she comes back around. I think all your advice has done me well.

I always found that ugly fat chicks were attracted to me. Probably cause I was being myself instead of trying to impress her.
So now, whenever I meet a girl I think is georgious, I pretend she's an ugly fat chick with a wart on her nose. When she's not around I call her "Fug Face".
Then when she's around I'm not uptight anymore.

Unfortunately, I still attract the ugly fat chicks.

(and yeah... I'm shallow and a typical male who only likes young tight blondes with nice bodies and a cute face... so sue me.)

Oh God... I think I dated one of them. eeewww
I admit... I was desperate.... it was late at night and I had nowhere else to sleep... and she came in and sat on the couch... so I felt obligated.
I still can't remember her first name.... but her last name was Armstrong.
eeeeeeeeewwwwww........
Years later I saw her at the mall with a little blonde kid.... I wonder....
