Hello,

I have a musician brain.I have lot of musical ideas. I bought an acoustic guitar because I love guitar. But I don't know at all how to play.Ijust practiced the beginning lessons available on this site but I feel that I lack guidance.

I shall be thankful if anyone gives me proper guidance or provide me useful sites so that I could translate my thougths in actual practice.

Thankyou

if your just starting out, i'd recomend you learn some basic chords, and then practice struming them and then picking at them. just go to any freeware site and do a search for "chord finder". Just try that and when you feel ready for some more stuff come back here...
Do you play anyother insturments?
(just out of intrest where are you from?)

I know it sounds like a stick in the mud, but might I suggest lessons? Until you learn the notes and train your ear to them, you will not be able to put your ideas on paper. I agree, learn chords, and if you don't take lessons buy some books that will teach you theory, rythym, and all that stuff, cause although it's boring it is very important.
later,
Luke

I also agree that it is an extremely good idea to take lessons. I don't necessarily think that learning theory and sight reading is important for you, it depends on what your goals and aspirations are for the guitar. But it is definatly a good idea to get proper technique down and develop good habits instead of bad ones.

I must agree that lessons are very useful.
If you play from a book, sure you can learn it good and
make it sound good, but if you take lessons you
can ask whatever you want, if you dont understand
the teacher helps you and mostly;
I think its very nice to be able to hear someone
playing the bit you want to play.
Then he/she can explain the rhytms etc. which
can be hard to figure out when you learn from books.

First of all I thank you all for yoyr valueable suggestions.
One thing is clear that I have to attend lessons. But to tell you the truth, I am a science student and I am doing bachelor. I can't put my education backward. So in my schedule, I can't find enough time to attend lesson.

I got it clear in my mind that lessons are best, but I'll also agree on slow process. With site exploring, I'll seek low, that's true. But one day when I would compelete my education and other duties, I'll be able to do some thing in the feild of music. Because frankly speaking, education is my first priority at the moment.

About my goals, as I have first expressed that I am a musician and singer. I have no such intention to be just a popular rock guitarist.
I love guitar, that's true. And if you ask me about my musical tongue, I'll say it's guitar. But I also intend to learn other instruments.

Of course its not ABSOLUTELY necessary to take lessons,
especially if you dont plan to be the best there is,
and if you have a tight schedule.
I would strongly recommend a basic guitar book that will
teach you some chords, some scales and some more.
I recommend that you dont choose a REAL basic book, theyre
often a bit TOO basic, like for kids (Maybe you are a kid,
but I assume youre not).
You can make learning faster and probably funnier if you buy one of them books with a instruction video, Ive never
tried one but Ive heard theyre pretty good.

One thing you can do is:
If you want to play rock for example, buy a book with
the GUITAR basics, and then a book with the ROCK basics,
because its good to be familiar with the guitar before you
start jammin'.

Kick the jams out! /MC

You need someone to teach you to start you off. You can learn stuff off websites later, but there's no substitue fo a real life teacher to set you on track.
Work hard...Play hard...Break a string...
