Rep point system overhaul

I think if you get lots of negative rep, your thing should say "_______ should stick to bass."

Or, "this person is one bad rep away from being Stackny-ed"

It seems around here that people get repped mostly just for saying funny stuff, so maybe the titles shouldn't be about how good at the guitar the person is....

Do we get to keep our existing rep points? I've been hungrily hoarding scraps of rep points since 2002 and to lose them now would be a tragedy.

-50 User might not be here much longer
-10 User has rubbed some people the wrong way
0 User is a Guitartricks newbie (default)
10 User has made some friends around here
20 User is just really nice
25 User eventually gets it mostly right.
35 User draws attention purely out of morbid curiosity.
50 User has gotten by on pure wit
75 User knows a thing or two about guitar playing
100 User is making a name for themselves
135 User is a name known to all
170 User is a splendid one to behold
205 User has greatness in reach
240 User calls Guitartricks home
275 User gives straight goods, first time, every time.
310 User is a Guitartricks Guru
345 User is a walking guitar encyclopedia
380 User tested for performance enhancing drugs.
415 User has a reputation beyond repute
450 User is a Golden God
500 User is a Guitartricks Legend

We'd also like to see the "Spread it around" Rule relaxed if possible.

yea the spread aroung thing bugs me....i can't give hardly anyone rep points
but i guess it helps abuse.....

Looks perty good. I'd get demoted as well, as most of us would anyways. But I certainly don't consider myself a "wealth of guitar knowledge" anyhow. :)

Not from me. I'd just like to see the spread it around thing to go away. Or like someone else said, make it so you can only rep so many times in a week or day. I never rep to boost someone's points, only if I find the post funny or appreciated or very knowledgeable.

It sucks when it wont let me rep when they deserve it.

Yes, I agree with Creta totally. It's weird to have to give rep to new members just so you can give some to someone who actually earned it.

Yeah, I'm with the others. Perhaps you can only post rep to the same folks a few times a week or something. Just seems a little stiffling not to be able to acknowledge something if you want to do so. Just a thought.

Hey, this is slightly off topic, but what happened to the members list thingy? It let you organize GT members by various fields (post count, reputation, alphabetically, etc..) Am i imagining things? :D
