(my posts keep disappearing midway through typing them???)

Anyway.. yes I do Sam. Someone will ask if I play drums, and when I say I do, I know what's coming next.

I've played with a few 'names' myself, but when you realise he's got Simon & Garfunkel, Eric Clapton, George Benson, Steely Dan, Rickie Lee Jones and James Brown on his CV, it kind of puts things firmly into perspective.

A bit of useless trivia:
1) He's got 2 'D's' in his surname.
2) Steve Gad isn't my real name.

Today Sam and I have decided to consign the Tran-Atlantic bitch-fest to the trash can, where it belongs, and become the best of virtual buddies.
We have been ‘talking’ behind the bike sheds, and via private messages, and have agreed that the basis of a lot of our ‘problems’ is simply us getting hold of the wrong end of the stick, as it were. Couple this with the pressure of my ‘never-ending-tour’, the shock of Joolz becoming pregnant (despite being on the contraceptive injections) and Sam’s own problems (which I won’t disclose here) and you have the perfect climate for a fight or three.
You see, I was raised in the iron and steel business. Mum did all the ironing, and dad did all the......er...rest!

We are making a point of trying to have a better understanding of each others own particular brand of ‘dry wit’. From here on in, I will be in here wearing nothing but lightly-soiled ‘Stars & Stripes’ thong, and Sam, for his part, will be the guy in the crotchless Robin Hood costume – as a gesture of cross-culture peace offering.
I will also be hanging my neurosis and paranoia on the back of the door, with my winter coat, and have already deleted all of my own posts that refer to Sam, and I am sure he’ll do the same, when he finds time.

As an added measure, I have lengthened my annoyingly short fuse, to a full 2 inches, will be keeping the ‘safety-catch’ on my typing fingers (both of them!) and have ordered a DIY ‘Pre-Frontal Lobotomy Kit’ from EBay to erase my short-term memory, and prevent me from ‘over reacting’ to previous posts.

To finish, I also extend to Sam a public apology too, a copy of which can be viewed; without appointment, hanging above my desk between the hand-knitted “No Place like Home” and “All’s Well That Ends Well” wall plaques. There will also be a limited edition CD with the same apology, narrated in sombre tones by Richard Dimbleby, with a foreword by former ‘Bay City Rollers’ singer Les Mckeown.

Thank you for listening, and here’s to rocking good times ahead, and other similar Cliché material. :)

btw. Thamks also for the private messages, requesting that I don't actually 'take a break' from GT for a while. It's nice to have friends.

It's just my clean-sweeping style. I suppose I can be open to misinterpretation at times, but most folk know I'm not a hostile sort of guy.
I do blow off a little steam, like anyone, and with all the travelling, work and what with the baby, I may just be feeling the strain. I guess he wandered into the sights at the wrong time.
If you see him before i do, give him a big kiss for me, ruffle his hair, and hand him the Gretsch I'm handing through the screen.
I think I may need a holiday, and to punish myself I'm gonna keep off the boards for a while.

Hey I have a question man. What's it like having a name like Steve Gad?
Do people ever confused you with the Drummer Steve Gadd?

You got me started now. I just got all the band/s stuff out. Stand by for an avalanche of crazy stuff. Well, maybe not.
The name? Well, I had it long before i was aware of Steve Gadd, and people looking on the net for me often say (when they aventually DO find me) I freaked when I saw the pictures. It's only a letter after all, and I'm always getting asked that by musicians. Very few other people have heard of him, including journalists, so it only really comes up from people 'in the know'.

(just looking for that picture - found some MAD stuff!)
btw.
After I dissolved 'Dead Fingers Talk' to work on "Such Perfect Liars" project, one of DFT (Friend and Bassist, Jeff Bale) stayed on in a documentary role, video taping recording sessions, rehearsals, helping in studio etc. He wanted to be part of what was 'happening' at the time, and I'm just wondering if I can post SPL pics (with Jeff AND Jim in same frame - rare!) without telling the story - and what a story. I'll check with Jim, see if he ever lurks here before I do. Don't wanna open a giant can of worms.
