wat are good solos to learn?

wat are good solo can be learn to make ur solo skills better? rather than doin scales? im at intermidiate lvl i think.. well i can solo red hot chilli peppers californication. still a noob though but im working on it. an tips? thx!

Check out Randy Rhoads (Ozzy's guitarist on Blizzard of Oz). Difficult solos but guaranteed to improve your technique and give you a better idea of how a really good solo is put together.
Two of the only tabbed solos I ever learned (and which helped me improve a lot) were 'Mr. Crowley' and 'Crazy Train'. Check em out, cool tracks too;-)

Well, if Red Hot Chilli Pepper solos are where you're at, maybe the next step is something in the ballpark of Pink Floyd's 'Comfortably Numb' - it's a nice solo too in my opinion. Some of the stuff by GNR too - or maybe metallica if you want something heavier. Depends where you are for technique - as I recall the californication solo isn't too tricky.

Best advice I can give is to learn the solo to a song you really love - doesn't matter how difficult it is, if you want it enough you'll get there.

Not a solo, but the piece I learnt that most improved my technique would have been 'Eugene's Trick Bag' - it's not for the faint hearted though! Sounds quite good even if not played at full speed and would help you develop sweeping & alternate picking. It also features diminished runs that I wasn't familiar with until I started looking at it...

Try the "Hotel california" solo. It's not too hard and will help you with bending.

Sweep picking (also know as Rake Picking) is kinda like struming a chord. But instead of struming all the strings together, you pick them one at a time without sounding the other strings. When your picking, you pick all downstrokes or all upstrokes and in a nice fluid motion.

oooh more like a faster arpeggio picking?

Yeah, sweeping is most often used to play arpeggios.

Other easy solos are some by Hendrix, like Hey Joe, and even most of the Satriani song Always With Me, Always With You.

Great advice - also, focusing on solos by the guitarists you like will give you more of an insight into their playing styles. If you really like John Frusciante from the Peppers, you might like to check out guitar solos by bands like
Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull etc.

I think Something by the Beatles is a great solo to learn. It's very easy, but it teaches you to put feeling into your playing. It was the first solo I learned.

Come to think of it, it's the only solo I've learned.
