Amazingly awesome, yet strangely overpriced Guitar "lessons"

Play What You Hear

You know the stuff I mean. "Learn Guitar in 5 Days" or "Teach Yourself Guitar through Hypnosis." We see these in magazines and the same adage rings true, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." The above one REALLY sparked my interest because it came in a link from Amazing Guitar and Guitar 5 day people and they are pretty sincere. I bought the Guitar 5 Day and honestly, my practicing was better, because it helped me organize my ideas and thoughts. The above one sounds a mixture of "too good to be true" and "legitmate, but expensive."

Has anyone heard of the program to expand your musicial vocabularly or is it just a sudden idea he created? I wanted something like this but, alas, $97 is a bit too much for me to send for 3 cds.

So any similar experiences where you bought into these?

Is that with Dan Denley? Or Andrew Koblick?

Yup, at least, that's the e-mail I got the link in. I bought the Andrew Kolick's Guitar 5-Day and it was actually decent.

So you feel it was worth the money you spent, if you spent any?

I am really considering getting this because I like this sort of stuff AND my playing is in a HUGE rut. So maybe, not sure.

i got a learn to shred book cd-rom that was pretty awesome for that kind of stuff, kinda filled in the blanks of what my blues/jazz loving guitar teacher didn't want to teach.

Andrew Koblick school
Is it worth it...I payed $24.95. It depends on where you are with a guitar now. I was a beginner and not doing anything except basic chords. It is mostly drills with the major scale and stretches and warmup. I'd hate to recomend it if your level is way above where it can take you. It sure won't hurt anything except your pocket book. You make the call. :D

I'd be really interested also to know how that PWYH works out. I have been seeing it a lot on the net and from the sample lessons, it seems to be good.

I almost got it but when i saw the price i nearly choked. I just dont know if the content justifies that price ($97). Another annoying thing is that you cant go into a store and take a lot at the contents.

Exactly, I really dunno if I feel confident spending THAT much on it without looking at it.

I downloaded the David Lucas Birge Perfect Pitch Training Course online because I wanted to get it, but didn't know if it was worth the $100+. I will tell you for sure it is not. The course just tells you basically the same thing over each track, gives you little to practice with that you couldn't figure out, and just isn't that beneficial. I have a better ear after using it but alot of what he said is probably on the net already. I am the type of person who will download software, movies, music, ect to ensure it's worth my money. Had I felt that DLB's program was actually worth my money and not the scam it appeared, I would have shelled it out, but really it was just as it looked. I'd like to get my hands on exactly what this program is and if it's good, I'll buy it when I get the money.

Seems like I've noticed that alot w/ most instructional DVD/CD/Softwares the instructors knowledgeable are extremely inarticulate and don't explain things that the average player really needs to hear and understand. I believe they try to hard to squeeze so much knowledge and technique into each section that most ppl become lost and overwhelmed :(
