I'd reccommend the mxr wylde overdrive for this.

The ZW-44 is a great overdrive pedal, but I think it might not be quite smooth enough for a strictly blues pedal. It could definitely work though, and it might suit your needs and tone tastes perfect. Also, take a look at the Digitech Bad Monkey, Ibanez Tubescreamer, Boss OD-3, Boss SD-1, Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive, and pretty much any other overdrive you can find to play through.

Tubescreamer +1

The Ibanez Tubescreamer TS-808 is pretty much the most widely used overdrive pedal amongst all genres of music... especially blues. SRV used two in his set-up I believe.

The TS-808 is the older version of the Tubescreamer... the newer version is the TS-9. But even today, the TS-808 is more sought after.

Yeah yeah yeah! Do, do get one! Then send it to me! I've wanted one for forever. They're pretty much the best overdrive pedal out there. One of those babies with my RAT would kill everything! Rep for Akira, if I can. :D
You go outside and practice screaming. We'll play music while you're gone.

DO NOT GET THE TS-7 Tubescreamer, it in no way competes with the TS-9 or TS-808.

EDIT: I also have to spread for Telemaster. :(

I agree with PRS on the Boss OD-3, and the Sparkle Drive- Ive used both, and both sound great. I prefer the Sparkle Drive though.

and Tubescreamer... its just awesome in general for any type of music.
