whats with all the screaming
*sigh*ok what i mean is. " its easier to learn to sing" annnd..screaming is like protest the hero and alexisonfire not so much the crazy deth metal shinannigans. and singing yes your voice is "out there with nowhere to hide" however to sustain notes in a scream is alot more challenging..all of you, go find a youngun who can actually scream and ask him to teach you. then decide. its waaay harder than it seems. i can do both well and i must say screaming was harder for me.

Interesting bit of trivia: I can not scream. I can growl, but not scream. Ask acapella about this one time when we played a song I wrote where the last two lines are supposed to be screamed (screamt? scremmed?), but I just could not do it. He makes fun of it regularly.

Is that because you have a deep voice? I have one, and I've found that I can't really scream, either. The best I can manage is a Mudvayne-style roar - not that there's much room for that in jazz or pop, but anyway... :D

If at first you don't succeed, you are obviously not Chuck Norris.

My voice is of a fairly high timbre, but I still find a low growl very easy; I think it has more to do with technique and how much whiskey I've been drinking lately than anything.

As a matter of fact, I do have a deep voice. That must be it.

My final thoughts...People barely understand ozzy when he speaks now adays, but when he sings, he sings fairly clearly and understandable.

I agree that there is such a wide scope with screaming or growling. There are big differences between As I lay Dying, Alex is On Fire and Hatebreed! I love the fact that Hatebreed usually have very uplifting lyrics as well. I love metal but ive never been a fan of the negativity! I think Hatebreed and Alex is on Fire mix singing "clean" vocals and screaming quite well. Demonstrates the versatility of the vocalists Would definatly agree that i am over the emo scream thing at the moment though! Liked it earlier on with Finch etc, but seems to be tacked onto songs to get airplay atm! Just my opinion.
PS I should be at an As i lay Dying/Bleeding Through gig right now, but someones alarm didnt go off! Paid for the ticket as well  Teaches me for being lazy and having afternoon naps! Sucks to be 21 lol
