Welcome to the land of education.

How old were these kids?

...You were in this survey...weren't you... :p
It might have been the kids being stupid. EG. We had a drug survey in class, and I admitted to trying every drug, as well as being a crack, cocaine, and crystal meth addict. According to my answers, I was also high at the time I did the survey. The ironic part is that I've never even tried an illegal drug.

...something tells me this is what happened on the f'ing carrot survey.

O...And I hope you all had a good Easter.

I work in hospitality, where we're open 24-7, 365. And I worked on Christmas. Because I don't celebrate it and in addition my family is on the other coast. So what's the point? I work and made doubletime! And since everyone else wants the day off, i get to work a double shift which equals doubletime PLUS time and a half for 16 hours of work!!!! God bless America! I also worked on New Year's and on Thanksgiving... again, I don't have family here and I'm a bigger fan of filthy lucre than significant days.

I think you missed the post where I said "do whatever you want, I don't care anymore"

Okay it just seemed like, the way you responded to that, you didn't know that I don't think the same way as what you quoted anymore.

Good luck deciphering that one^^^ :D That wasn't even intentional, I just talk in a way that only makes sense in my head.

That's good then. I don't want anybody thinking I don't like them because I really do like everybody on here, and not to mention I'm trying to cut down on my being-a-jerk-on-the-forum. I already had one scare thinking I got banned :(

I know just enough to know there are limits to what I know. Like the official status of Easter.

A classic Canadian question is "Who has jurisdiction?" It seems like so much of our politics is devoted to turf wars among the different levels of government. And one of the battlegrounds is the matter of Holidays. My guess is that Easter is a Provincial Holiday rather than a National Holiday. I could be wrong on this, but I've noticed that here in Alberta, a lot of businesses close on Easter Monday as well as on Good Friday. In Ontario, I don't recall that happening. Alberta schools are closed on both Good Friday and Easter Monday. I'm pretty sure that never happened while I was going to school in Ontario. That was quite a while ago, I know, but yeah.

Since schools are a matter of Provincial jurisdiction, not National, I figure this indicates that at least Easter Monday is a Provincial Holiday. But Good Friday could be either nationally or provincially mandated. Confused? Good. We're on equal footing then.

I'm glad I'm small town because the only thing that REALLY affects us here is the economy other than that it really doesn't matter.

Hadnt cracked this one open til I had seen it has gone 3 pages and is still at the top of the open discussion board 3 days after Easter. Read it over and it brought me to thinking about something that bothered me.

A friend of mine, a rather unintelligent friend I may add, who is supposively Catholic, wrote in his AIM profile "Lent-No Alcohol For 40 Days." Now, this kid is only 19. So he's giving up something thats already illegal for him to do?! Next year it will probably be "Lent-No Murdering Anyone For 40 Days." What a friggin sacrifice. I really wish Catholicism wasnt a branch of Christianity, but sadly enough it is.

Didnt say that Pony, but its really not a sacrifice to give up something the law says you shouldnt be doing in the first place. The Bible does say obey the laws of the land, and that is a law of the land.

Besides, when this kid says to give up alcohol, hes giving up not getting trashed for 40 days. Its not like hes giving up his glass of wine with dinner at night. Being that the Bible also says you shouldnt endulge in drunkeness, in this case it makes it even less of a sacrifice.

And WTF is up with hating on Catholicism? I really don't get it.

Well, if this kid knows what hypocritical means, maybe that will happen.

Catholicism.....Where to start. Ive got to get some shut eye. Take to yall in the AM.

The Bible also says that women who are having their period should not enter a church, as they are unclean.

Sorry to bring this topic back up, everyone, I just felt I had to point that out.

Not at the moment, no. I think it's in Leviticus somewhere.

And it could very well be taken out of context. My theory is that unless you're reading the Bible in Hebrew, the way it was written (unless I haven't got my facts straight), you're probably taking something way out of context.

Very well could be true. The King Jimmy does a much better job than say the NIV on the translations, but its still not perfect. Sounds like something that came from one of those Islamic sites where they try to find contradictions and such when they take everything out of context or just dont read into things. I gave one of those to my dad once, who's an ex-pastor and still preaches sometimes, and he sat down and proved a bunch of em wrong for me right off the bat. He said given time he couldve tossed em all in the trash.
