Do you mean Marty Friedman? I mean, shouldn't we be talking about the good guitarist from Megadeth?

Yeah, Marty Friedman is better than the rest of the Megadeth lot, but even so, I think Mustaine is light years ahead of Wylde.

Well, the lead guitarist in your band is clearly deaf. Or perhaps he thinks Wylde is derivative and boring. Regardless, Wylde is a much better player than Mustaine, I have no idea where anyone gets off saying otherwise. Mustaine is certainly more important than Wylde in terms of Metal history, but that's nothing to do with his talent.

What about "In This River"? It was a nice, reflective little piano ballad - until Zakk came in with his ridiculously overdriven lead guitar and ruined it with some re-hashed, heavy metal-style pentatonic shredding. Dave Mustaine's focus is indeed fairly narrow, but Zakk's isn't all that much wider; and, IMHO, Dave plays better music within that focus, for want of a better phrase (it's five'o'clock AM over here! :o ). I prefer Dave's solos to Zakk's - and, hell, if Zakk could play rhythm guitar half as well as Dave, the Black Label Society would be a much better band!

Dave might actually be a better rhythm guitarist than Zakk.
But Zakk has better solos...

Your definition of "nice, reflective" seems to match mine for "tacky, exploitive."

Not to say that I'm right and your wrong, but to illustrate the absolutely subjective nature of this topic or any similar one to it.

Come to think of it, "In This River" was a bit on the tacky and exploitative side, just like most other Dimebag Darrell tributes. Dean Guitars are using his death to make a quick dollar - not only do they have Dimebag tribute guitars, but tribute hats, t-shirts, and guitar cases; and I heard something about a Dimebag tribute motorbike. I mean for God's sake, what's next? I wish they'd just let the man rest in peace.

I meant that Dave is more influential than Wylde, not less versatile.

I honestly don't like either. But I'll say Wylde is better. I just like hos songwriting on hangover music. Damn good music.
