Here's some stuff me n' acapella wrote as part of a joke emo song we're working on.

A verse I wrote:

My soul is bruised
Like the apple of mistrust
Leave me to die
Covered in sad rust

And here's the chorus we both did:

I wear theeeem (I wear my black wristbands)
To cover the scaaars (that criss-cross on my hands)
Remove theeem (remove them from my heart)
Remove my heart (remove my heart)

Of course, the chorus is staggered so there's some overlap in the words.

It's absolutely hilarious when acapella turns on his nasal emo voice.

I love the lyrics to "Child in Time" by Deep Purple. That song never fails to scare the willies out of me.

Sweet child in time
You'll see the line
The line that's drawn
Between the good and the bad
See the blind man
Shooting at the world
Bullets flying
Taking toll

If you've been bad
Oh Lord, I bet you have
And you've been hit
By flying lead
You'd better close your eyes
And bow your head
And wait for
The ricochet.

The screaming at the end is downright disturbing.
"It's all folk music... I ain't never heard no horse sing!"
- Attributed variously to Leadbelly and Louis Armstrong

If at first you don't succeed, you are obviously not Chuck Norris.

Not all that interesting, but:

"If you don't live for something, youll die for nothing" - Hatebreed (Live for This)

Makes a pretty good point!

Perhaps a spoof off of the early 90's country song that said "You got to stand for something, or you'll fall for anything."

I believe it was Aaron Tippin

I'm not sure if this would classify as a favorite but me and an old singer in a band used to laugh our A**** off when we heard this.

"Her placenta falls to the floor..."

Live-- Lightning Crashes

We just couldn't belive someone found a way to use 1) Placenta in a song and 2) the whole sentence in a song

Oh geez, this could be quite a list...I'll try keep it short...

"did you expect it all to stop at the wave of your hand?,
like the sun's just gonna drop if its night you demand?"- Bright Eyes..."An attempt to tip the scales"

"soon all the joy that pours from everything makes fountains of your eyes.
because you finally understand the movement of a hand, waving goodbye"- Bright eyes, "Movement of a hand"

"In the middle of the day, when you drive home to your place, from that job that makes you sleep back to those thoughts that keep you awake"- Bright Eyes "the centre of the world"

"Did it all get real I guess it's real enough they've got
refrigerators full of blood. Another century spent pointing guns
at anything that moves

Sometimes I worry that I lost the plot, my twitching muscles tease my flippant thoughts
I never really dreamed of heaven much until we put him in the ground.

But thats all I'm doing now,
Looking for patterns in the sound of an endless, static sea.
and once the satelites deceased it blows like garbage through the streets, of the night sky, to infinity....but dont you weap.

Dont you weap for them
Don you weap,
There is nothing, as lucky,
as easy or free"
-Bright Eyes, "Easy/lucky/free"

"Abc, Nbc, Cbs Bull****, the give us fact or fiction, I guess an even split" -Bright Eyes, "To love and to be loved (lets not **** ourselves)

and finally
" The arc of time. The stench of sex. The innocence you cant protect.
Each quater note, each marble step. walk up and down that lonely treble clef"- Bright Eyes "I believe in symmetry"

so I guess you guys figure that I am a big fan of Bright Eyes, and Conner Obersts lyrics...

Whoa. I like that one a lot.

I just remembered another line I always liked, from Denis Leary's "Asshole:"

"Sometimes I park in handicapped spaces
while handicapped people make handicapped faces"

That's MY favorite line from that song, too!

Oh, also this from Ulysses. If anybody wants an in-depth analysis of this paragraph, I'm nerdy enough to give you one:

Ineluctable modality of the visible: at least that if no more, thought through my eyes. Signatures of all things I am here to read, seaspawn and seawrack, the nearing tide, that rusty boot. Snotgree, bluesilver, rust : colored signs. Limits of the diaphane But he adds : in bodies. Then he was aware of them bodies before of them coloured. How? By knocking his sconce against them, sure. Go easy. Bald he was and a millionaire, maestro di color che sanno. Limit of the diaphane in. Why in? Diaphane, adiaphane. If you can put your five fingers through it, it is a gate, if not a door. Shut your eyes and see.

One that always makes me smile is 'She Bangs the Drum' by the Stone Roses:

"Kiss me where the sun don't shine, the past was your's but the future's mine'

Amen....

This is from an old Peanuts comic from the 60's. (of my dads)

This world is filled with people anxious to function in an advisory compacity.-Charlie Brown

It stuck with me for some reason.
The greatest enemy to what you can know, is what you already know.

It's not how good you play, its how well you play it.

Hatebreed got some great lyrics, they may not all be poetic but they sure strike a point

some Whitesnake lyrics, I simply love the song, who doesn't:
Here I go again on my own
goin' down the only road I've ever known.
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone.
An' I've made up my mind, I ain't wasting no more time.

on a whole different music style: Postmen - Crisis

No matter what the crisis, I refuse to live like this

When I'm enthousiastic
I stretch problems like elastic
contradictive
visionary perspective
I seldom missed it
sphere mystic
domestic
all this I invested
often tested
all fruits I inherit
oneself should acquire methods to find his exit with fragments
life penetrated by attachments

too many songs that helped me through the past couple of months, hail to Reggea, always makes me happy :p
= good music is good drinking =

Ok, here's two I like, both from "In the Mind of the Bourgeois Reader" by Sonic Youth. I can't decide which one I like more.

I don't care about dirty hair
All praise due queen and Yogi Bear

or

Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids
Your carrot souffle's got me on the skids

Pretty much all my favorite lines are by Clutch...

Careful with that mic: Sometimes I'm even tempted to seek the advice of Dr. Laura.........But I ignore her.

Mob Goes Wild: Everybody move to Canada, smoke lots of pot, everybody move to Canada right now, here's how we do it....bum rush the boarder guard before he and his dog ever knew it.

I Have The Body Of John Wilkes Booth: Like Marlon Brando, but bigger.
You'll find that creature at the bottom of the deep down Susquehanna River.

Animal Farm: Little grey men are coming our way, Tastes just like chicken they say.
Check out my band:
