Id rather watch this band's movie over the St. Anger DVD. At least this is bad enough to the point that its entertaining.

I think that would be an LTD. If I"m not mistaken, Metallica doesn't play Gibsons.

yeah, and a les paul isn't the only gibson in the world.. what about an SG? I've seen plenty of metal bands use an SG, though schecter is make a break-through in the metal genre as well. I see les pauls all the time for metal. not to mention those gibson flying V's, can you get more metal then a flying V?

also, ESP isn't that bad. I've played one, and thought it was a great guitar for the price, I didn't buy it because my SG was still better, but this was only a cheapie ESP, it only cost like $280 or something like that. and I thought it was pretty good. though it was a les paul knockoff.

I'll give that 2-string thing where you bend one string, and just play another. I'm not near any guitars right now.. even though I have to be at my guitar class in 45 minutes, but I accidently slept in this morning, and then in my haste to get out the door, I completely forgot it. so, this should be interesting, playing air guitar at my class.. yeah!

According to http://www.allmetallica.com/info/equipment/kirk.php Kirk Hammet uses not one, but two Les Pauls onstage.
You go outside and practice screaming. We'll play music while you're gone.

how bout angus young?

I saw a metal band called haste the day in concert, and the rhythm player used a schecter C-1 something or other (not the classic) and the lead player used a platinum colored SG.

lots of metal bands use les pauls ands SGs, no names in particular spring to mind, but if you did some research, I'm sure you'd find plenty that do.

Every time I go to a local show I always see at least 5 Gibsons, then comes Shecters, then Prs's, then Strats. And about that akward note you were talking about, I feel you on that one. I've been trying to get that sound for a while now, the closest I got was playing this :

drop d or c , open notes played fast

pm . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Other than that I just vary the 2nd string around that 3. Hope that helped.

I dont think Angus is metal. More blues and rock than metal. Guess I just havent seen many metal guitarists with Gibsons, but apparently its fairly common. Usually I think of blues players when I think of Gibsons and I think of Jacksons and Ibanez's when I think of metal.

At punk/hardcore shows in both Los Angeles and Las Vegas, I've always seen more Gibsons and Fenders than anything else. The Sex Pistols had an expensive high-end Les Paul that they burglarized from Rod Stewart, and they did awful things with it that it wasn't meant to do at all. Jimmy Page had an LP, Tony Iommi (who wrote the first chapter of the book on metal guitar) had an SG, Hendrix of course had a Strat....

The SG was the orginal metal guitar, I think.

I guess I stand corrected on the Gibson not being a metal guitar...None the less, that kid doesnt deserve to be playing one.

I agree. My primary reason for playing what I play is because it's what I've grown up with. So it feels most natural to me.
