I am a girl with short fingers and it really sucks to have to cut my nails. I think many beginners have trouble with reaching all the chords. My first time playing isn't that hard, just hard to reach some stuff. I like playing the guitar. I hope there's a better way we can learn to hit all the notes.

lol thats the exact same case with me... right now i feel like throwing this thing out the window lol

do you take lessons or self learn, cuuz im self learning. I've had music training b4 so im not worry about notes. just the fingering. And i feel dumber, im stuck on Amazing Grace.

i play strings instruments before, violin, viola, etc, but my fingers should be used to it. however, I just cant seem to reach these. Why do thye have to make it such a big stretch.

I'm a guy with big hands and it was difficult for me at first too. I had to shop around for a guitar that was a little wider at the nut so I could fit my fingers on the fretboard without touching other strings all the time. Try looking at some guitars that are not so wide at the nut. Also, some guitars have necks that are fat, some are slim, narrow, wide. They are all different. Other than that, my best advice is to practice, practice, practice. Don't give up, it get's frustrating at times but you WILL get better if you practice. ;)
I am a constant evolving music machine. Oh Man, I just forgot what I was playing. Oh well, on to the next song.

What are you trying to play for chords on the Bass ? the good news for you is that most chords on the bass the notes are played one at a time, although dependiing on the sound you can certainly play a chord.. As far as the frets buzzing and hitting the strings that gets better with practice. So do short fingers... The more you play you will learn to compensate for the size of your fingers.. Timing is important with the bass, you and the drummer hold the band togeather, my instructor a long time ago had me practise with lots of different beats, shuffles (zz top) rock, waltz beats and so on. I bought a dum machine to help me out. However today you can down load some off the intenet... Most of all take you time, you have a long life,, And have fun....

they should be accordingly, lowest string to highest: E, A, D, G . Just like the first 4 string on a guitar.
I am Comfortably Numb... :D

Although my fingers are the perfect size i will try to help peeps with stubby fingers. If you have short fingers the bring your hand further under the neck. It may be uncomfortable but you will adjust to this wuith due time! When i say bring your hard further under the neck, in detail i mean 'If you look your hand is on the bottom (at that view angle when holding in playing position) push it further round so your hand is getting further from you and you should be able to reach the cords that you normally struggle to reach. Hope this helps a bit.

okay im a guy with small fingers but ive been playing since 2002 so i know how yall feel and how hard it is to learn this damn thing. im gonna try to make this as simple as possible. i know you've heard this from evereyone else, but the thing is, you just practice and you get better.
if you're having problems with chords, play closer to the frets ahead than where your fingers are at (you're probably playing dead center between frets, don't play in the center, you should play closer to the fret ahead).
if your fingers are sore, keep playing! just like when you're working out, if you start to feel tired, keep going at it. its the only way.
the thing is that you have to keep practicing because playing guitar is like lifting weights to your fingers. they get stronger and faster and more accurate the more you play. i know this is true because, compare how you are now to the first day you got that guitar. arent you alot better now than then? arent your fingers able to hit those notes correctly and faster now than your first time? well keep going at it and you'll be ripping through those strings.
as i said, i was just like you, and now you probably dont know where to go or what to do next. the first thing is to look at successful guitarists for inspiration and find out exactly what type of music you wanna play with your guitar. it may be more than one thing.
next you should go and try to learn the techniques those guitarists are doing. okay right now i'll start you off with some tequniques you've got to know to be a successful guitarist.

once you know those you'll be surprised at how well you play. im surprised at myself. now i cant just give you the links to learn these. you're got to go off and gain experience and find things out on your own. if i hand everything to you, you wont completely understand these things. so just go and search for those things and you'll be on your way to making your own songs and improvising.

first time restringing look at exactly how the string is attatched then carefully take it off taking note of everything (all the fastening and the nut and how it goes through holes, all the others will be the same), do it as though u are removing the string in one peice then follow the exact same process in reverse and once thats done tune it up, do each string one at a time making sure its in tune all the time, when uv done check the tuning a final time and your done its dead easy, took me 2 hours first time to replace retune and intonate a full set on my electric
