if you're having problems with chords, play closer to the frets ahead than where your fingers are at (you're probably playing dead center between frets, don't play in the center, you should play closer to the fret ahead).
if your fingers are sore, keep playing! just like when you're working out, if you start to feel tired, keep going at it. its the only way.
the thing is that you have to keep practicing because playing guitar is like lifting weights to your fingers. they get stronger and faster and more accurate the more you play. i know this is true because, compare how you are now to the first day you got that guitar. arent you alot better now than then? arent your fingers able to hit those notes correctly and faster now than your first time? well keep going at it and you'll be ripping through those strings.
as i said, i was just like you, and now you probably dont know where to go or what to do next. the first thing is to look at successful guitarists for inspiration and find out exactly what type of music you wanna play with your guitar. it may be more than one thing.
next you should go and try to learn the techniques those guitarists are doing. okay right now i'll start you off with some tequniques you've got to know to be a successful guitarist.
pull-offs
hammer-ons
KNOW YOUR CHORDS

SCALES
once you know those you'll be surprised at how well you play. im surprised at myself. now i cant just give you the links to learn these. you're got to go off and gain experience and find things out on your own. if i hand everything to you, you wont completely understand these things. so just go and search for those things and you'll be on your way to making your own songs and improvising.
