Buckethead is most definatley a real guitarist, and anyone else who has seen the man live will tell you as much. Heh... you think he's fast on CD?

Of coure I have myself to blame since I started this whole Buckethead thing...

Buckethead is faster, more extreame, uses more textures, and shreds while doing the robot (yes, I've seen as much). However, he just doesn't funnel raw emotion into what he's playing like Stevie could. That's not to say he can't- their's one part of Nun Chuka Kata where I can hear him "bring it up to that next level." If he did that more often, he'd have my vote.

My vote: SRV

Thanks for voting right. I'll admit Buckethead is not bad but I don't feel he will ever do what Stevie did for us.

how do you choose who's going to fight who? is there a reason, or is it a draw?

yeah, I was wondering about that too. Do you draw the names out of a hat or use your own discretion to match them?
In any case, I vote for Frank Zappa, the king of innovation.

Because he testified before Congress that Tipper Gore and the PMRC are a bunch of PMSing soccer moms, my vote goes to Zappa. It takes balls to do that sort of thing.

Ok I just think up who are my favorite guitarists (except buckethead that was popular demand). And try to space out the true greatest. I mean don't get me wrong Slash is a great guitarist but I don't think that he'd qualify up against Hendrix or Van Halen that's why I put him up against Hendrix in the first round. there will be several more greats coming into this competition but I can't name them right now.

rhoads, all the way
To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

Gotta go with Rhoads . . . even though I never liked his soloing style that much.
