marshall vs mesa
i was wondering if anyone has had any experience playing the marshall tsl100 head or the mesa stiletto head...and if you have, what are your guys' opinions on the two? which one would you prefer? and another question is, would i be able to run a marshall head through a mesa cabinet or a mesa head through a marshall cabinet? because my friend told me that i wouldn't be able to because they're different brands, but i'm not so sure if he's right or not

no idea about the heads but i think cabinates from and heads from diffrant brands can be used together as long as the speakers have the correct load
i dont know much about this though so dont quote me on that

I gotta stick with Marshall. There's just something about the sound that screams 'rock'.
My favorite time with a Marshall amp was using an attenuator. Normally the amp is too loud to get the sound I want, but I turned the attenuator down and it was like a duplicate of Van Halens sound doing stuff from the first album.

i have a mesa boogie stiletto and think its great but it needs a tube change to jj's but im sure the marhsall stock tubes are just as bad. I was a die hard marhsall rock dude with my heart set on a jcm 800 but after i waited the options i found the stiletto to be best suited for me. Some advantages that the mesa have over the jcm 800 is a master volume and solo boost, 50/100 watt switchable per drive which is great cuz i didnt know whehter i wanted one or the other, if u want to disable the master volume you can, its got a variac switch to lower the voltage ala edward van halen, and essentialy 6 modes over 2 channels. I run it through a mesa traditional cab and its great, but it can be run on any cab, its also not very suseptable to ohms so u can experienment with different ohms settings and cabnets. The one quam is that i wish it had a litter more lower end on strats but that i 95% positive i can change by getting quality tubes. try it out. if you go to the mesa boogie board you can find stiletto clips that are outlined by the manual. I think that the humbucker sound from a stiletto is unbeatable.
WWSD? What would stevie do?

usually for me, I get up on stage, and go "wow, this sounds better then usual!" then I get home and go "why can't I get that tone anymore?"
and that's with a solid state amp!
but anyways, I can't speak for the mesa/marshall comparison, though I can say I love the TSL100, but I also love the mesa triple recto (i've never used the stileto). however, I also used a mesa combo amp at a shop once (don't know what exact model it was) and I didn't like the tone at all, too fuzzy.

To hear mesa boogie in action listen to metallica's Black Album. Check out Blizzard of ozz for Marshall. Then decide for yourself. If I had the cash I would use both for different applications. Marshall for that classic heavy metal and Mesa boogie for nu-metal or Megadeth/metallica speed/thrash.

Marshall's have BALLS!!! You crank one up, smack and E chord and it hit's you in the gut! I love marshall tsl's because they really fill out the power of my strat! They make it sound thick, and powerfull. Not at all weak and thin.
I am Comfortably Numb... :D
