Solid pigeon blood ruby with carbon nanotube strings on platinum machineheads.

I couldn't plug it in and play it, but I could sell it and buy Uganda.

The Taylor 614CE Acoustic. It's my main object of desire and obsession as we speak. I haven't lost love for electrics, but I'm mostly hankering after good acoustics these days.

Geez this could take a while...go to www.nathansheppardguitars.com look at the nsg25 series...the brown quilt guitar on the extreme left is pretty close to it hey...nad I played that guitar and it plays amazingly well. The green quilt top next to it is also an awesome guitar.

Otherwise, maybe a Paul Reed Smith Custom 22 with three way pickup selector switch.(not five way rotary) private stock model, with a charcoal finish, on a flame maple top and mahog body...with a Brazilian Rosewood 1 piece neck...in fact...just change that to a charcoal grey Modern. Eagle...thats exactly what I described come to think of it.

I am about to buy a Prs Custom 22 artist package(just gotta earn a few more pounds) and that comes damn close to my dream guitar.
A 1959 Les Paul Standard would also be right up there...as would any McInturff or Anderson or Suhr

Hmmm. Let's see. Brunette and tall. Intelligent, funny, kind with a wild side...a nice, lilting laugh that could fill a room. Someone with a passion for life and who lives each day to it's fullest.

Oh wait, you said guitar of your dreams. Sorry, I was a little confused...

A Custom Shop version of my Am Ash Tele;
The only real change would be to add a middle Strat pup,Mini Humbucker in the neck and a 5-way Super switch that'll get me the classic Neck/Bridge setting with the switch straight up.
Don't get me wrong.....everything about this Tele is wonderfull, but since we're imagining......

Oh... where do I begin?

I am currently planning the build of my dream guitar... or atleast my dream guitar at the moment. Here are the build plans that I have instore for it:

Body: Les Paul (Mahogany w/ flamed carved maple top) Chambered body for more resonance and enhanced acoustic tone.

Neck: Set-neck Mahogany w/ Ebony African Rosewood fretboard, 24 jumbo frets, Graphite nut.

Pickups: BareKnuckle Nailbomb at the bridge and BN Warpig at the Neck
w/ a Piezo Tune-o-matic Bridge

Controls: Master Volume, 3 Concentric pots (Independant tone and volume for all 3 pickup sources) 3-way Les Paul with a on/off toggle for piezo

Bridge: Piezo Tune-O-matic Saddle w/ matching Tailpiece

Tuners: 5 Gotoh high ratio tuners with one Hipshot Xtender tuner on the E string (allows you to flip a lever and go from E to D tuning and vice-versa)

Finish: Flamed maple top will be in Transparent Black. The body will be in Flat Black, the neck will be in Flat black (matched to body), Headstock will have a Flat Black Veneer with my custom logo on it.

Others: All black hardware, Black Binding, Inlays will be Roman Numerals of the fret (3,5,7,9,12,15,17,19,21,24) in mother of pearl.

Well, there it is... I may have left out some small details but you get the idea

Not sure if this would be my ultimate dream guitar, but here's what I've been fantasizing about building sometime in the future.

BODY STYLE: standard Tele
BODY WOOD: Swamp Ash
PUP ARRANGEMENT: bridge humbucker, middle and neck single coils
CONTROL LAYOUT: Chrome Tele control plate w/ 1vol, 1tone, 5-way switch & toggle switch to split the bridge humbucker
COLOR: Tobacco Burst on front and back
NECK PROFILE: mix between a PRS wide fat and a 59 LP
NECK WOOD: Flamed Maple
FB WOOD: Brazillian Rosewood
INLAY'S: Custom Mother of Pearl
HEADSTOCK: Custom shape w/ Swamp Ash Laminate to match body
NECK FINISH: Clear Satin
NUT: GRAPHTECH
TUNNERS: Schaller Locking tuners
BRIDGE: Chrome Gotah Tele bridge cut for Humbucker
PICKGUARD: not sure yet (probably pearloid)

One done by Ron Thorn would probably be a close second. Similar to this one, but with a TOM or wraparound bridge:

How about diamond control knobs. That would be hot, then get annoying after awhile.

Taking this thread literally, I've had a few dreams of playing guitar, yet the guitar wasn't ever anything special...my playing was however. Of course I had no idea what I was playing when I woke up. :(

But to imagine a dream guitar, hmmm. It's hard to choose. I like humbuckers and single coils, fixed bridges and tremelos, natural stains and bursts...hell I'm almost split between an acoustic or electric. So maybe an SG with a Parker Fly setup would be the closest thing for me. It would also be pretty cool to own one of my idols guitars...a LP from Page, numerous axes from B. Gibbons, or one of Dime's Washburns. But truthfully I'm not worthy to play those.

BODY STYLE: SG
BODY WOOD: Solid mahogany with flame maple top
PUP ARRANGEMENT: umm, probably seymour duncan... 2 humbuckers... SH-6 distortion in the bridge... maybe a JB in the neck (do they make a neck version?)
CONTROL LAYOUT: 2 volume, 2 tone, 3 way switch
COLOR: Emerald Burst:
NECK PROFILE: very thin
NECK WOOD: mahogany
FB WOOD: ebony
INLAY'S: some kind of custom image, I can't really think of anything right now
HEADSTOCK: Standard gibson shape
NUT: graphite
TUNERS: Grover
BRIDGE: Tune-o-matic with stop bar tailpiece
PICKGUARD: none
SPECIAL STUFF: chrome hardware (including the volume and tone controls)

I almost bought one of those SG supremes. Unfortunately I wasn't willing to wait until I had the money so I settled with my standard instead. I bet it plays like magic though.
