Hi. any help will be appreciated. Cheers. Heres the problem:

Been playing an epiphone les paul goth for a while now, also I've been playing a Jackson DKMG. Neither of these guitars do it for me. I adore the playability of the epiphone, I can sweep pick easily with it, but lacks power(im not considering changing pickups), lacks # of frets, and ideally I want the locking tremolo system(not considering adding it). The Jackson on the other hand has semi decent pickups(EMG-HZ), 24 frets, locking system, but the playability dosen't convince me i.e. cant sweep pick as nicely. At the moment i'm not considering custom made. So I'd like any feedback on guitars that retain the playability of the epiphone(is it just because its a les paul???) with 24 frets, decent floyd, and must have great sound(assuming EMG originals, or Seymour duncans).

Cheers!!!. :D

If you like the overall feel and looks of the Epi LP but want one with a more "metal" attitude... check out the Eclipse by ESP/LTD. They have the LP body style with SD or EMG pickups... and you can get it with a Floyd. They might even have 24 frets. The body is mohogany and it's get the set neck so you get the sustain of an LP. If you like the double cutaway shape or looking for something a little different... check out the S series by Ibanez. They have hot pickups, the fastest necks on earth (Wizard II), 24 frets, of course a Floyd Rose, and the body shapes are thin and made of mohogany. Those are my suggestions for you... take it or leave it. haha. If all else fails... contact me and I'll build you a custom LP with 24 frets, EMGs, and a Floyd....Good luck in your important decision making process.

I think you should try taking your Jackson in for a set-up, unless it is the shape of the neck that you dislike, a setup could make your Jackson play as nicely as your Les paul.
Another thing is that the Les Paul would have a set neck...maybe that is what you like so much about it?
You seem to be looking for eveything I hate in a guitar(i am a stop tail,22fret man) so I cant really give you much advice...I would look into some of the nicer ESP LTD range or even some other Jacksons...

I don't like Epiphone myself, used to have one and thought it was good untill I tried out some of the more pro guitars in the local shop. Once I went Ibanez I could never turn back - try an RG series, make sure it has Dimarzio pickups. The sound and playability of their more pricey models are amazing. For sweeps and really fast lead I find the smooth neck (as opposed to the varnished or painted finish) a big help, stops the thumb from sticking on the back of the neck. Ibanez come with an outstanding trem system that never goes out of tune even after upward harmonic shifts and dive bombs.
If you don't like Ibanez, how about an ESP? How much are you willing to spend? Consider a really good guitar an investment, you may never change it so its worth splashing out.

If you got 700, go for a CArvin bolt plus with a floyd rose- best guitar at the price!
Alas for I am Jay! Reviver of very, very old threads!
