Here's a new song I just wrote that I'm hoping to put to music. Feedback is appreciated.

Clear
Jennifer

[Verse One]
Welcome to the dawning of a new day
The darkness is gone, the smoke has cleared
I can find my way

Welcome to the dawning of a new age
This is the new me, the old me is gone
Was just a stage

[Chorus]
The sun has brightened on my path
I know now how to do the math
My future is bright
And my sight
Is clearā€¦
Clearā€¦

[Verse Two]
Welcome to the dawning of a new year
The darkness has dissipated
The sunlight is here

Welcome to the dawning of my innocence
My dark stages is past me now
I got some sense

(CHORUS)

[Bridge]
The sunlight is shining down on me
The air is clear, now I can see
The air is so clearā€¦

(CHORUS)

Lemme guess, this line, or one of the similar lines was the first line you thought of, and then wrote the rest of the song around it. Had you just been listening to the song American Idiot by chance?

Take a look at the username, my man. They may not dig "In Flames." Besides, you can't be inspired by lyrics you can't understand.

I missed the point behind the user name, and dawn of a new day was made in In Flames' nu-metal era where the vocals are a lot more clear. Besides, dawn of a new day is an acoustic song. Furthermore, you don't have to be able to understand the singer while he sings to understand the lyrics... obviously given you've read them.

American Idiot and this song only slightly relate,

"Welcome to a new kind of tension"

"Welcome to

The overall idea maybe is the same but maybe not, the only relation i see is "welcome to" which my song ironically has. And I can tell u i wasnt thinking American Idiot at the time. More like wtf has happend to the world?

The overall idea maybe is the same but I dont think they meant it that way.My song ironically has "welcome to the dawning..." and I can tell u i wasnt thinking American Idiot at the time.More like wtf has happened to the world? I think the reason it resembles several songs is because its alittle cliched which is why im removing it from my song.

I thought the song was well written. It seems, imo, that path and math in the chorus sounded a little forced in the rhyme scheme.
If the song describes how you feel, congradulations man. Doesn't it feel amazing?!
