WOW... rock is easy...rap is easier... i can make some sick arse rap beats out of my keybord throw them into a computer and then talk about hoes easy - i will never belive that it is easier to make songs on a guitar/bass/drums/ than it is with button pushing machines - and riffs are repetitive but they put like 3 different repetitive riffs into ther song - rap has ONE beat that plays over and over - mabye 2 if yer lucky - and i'm saying as a majority - so quit coming at me like "dude check this song out it takes some talent to do this u try to do this i bet u can't do this" cuz thats a couble songs/bands out of hundreds that overall make rap total crap - and korn stuff is no wer near HARD but ther not not easy unless u can really play guitar. i know i've tried. and just recently have i been to play ther songs alot easier ...been playing fer about a year - and who ever said korn doesn't make ther songs sing well i guess so cuz it's an opinion - i ment by sing as in ther slow riffs and such have alot of emotion to them - which isn't really singing lol but it's buitiful

Do it. Record some rap beats and put them on some free site like Purevolume.com and rap over them. We'll see what you come up with.

- and riffs are repetitive but they put like 3 different repetitive riffs into ther song - rap has ONE beat that plays over and over - mabye 2 if yer lucky - and i'm saying as a majority - so quit coming at me like "dude check this song out it takes some talent to do this u try to do this i bet u can't do this" cuz thats a couble songs/bands out of hundreds that overall make rap total crap

Have you never noticed the syncopated rhythms that come up in many rap songs? Probably not. Guess what, champ? Most rap songs switch the beat at LEAST twice, but would you like to know why they seldom make it obvious? Because rap is meant to be DANCED to. Look at any Bach invention. My god, he doesn't change his rhythm very much! I can't imagine why! Oh, could it be perhaps that it's a Waltz, and people need to follow the steady 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3?

- and korn stuff is no wer near HARD but ther not not easy unless u can really play guitar. i know i've tried. and just recently have i been to play ther songs alot easier ...been playing fer about a year

You've only played for a year. You may not be able to judge what is difficult for anyone but a beginner.

- and who ever said korn doesn't make ther songs sing well i guess so cuz it's an opinion - i ment by sing as in ther slow riffs and such have alot of emotion to them - which isn't really singing lol but it's buitiful

Whatever you say, champ.

that song came out 1990 for ther album - yeah they definilty sound the same but BLIND was originally from johnathan's old band way b4 primus was signed (even though they got signed 4 years b4 korn...)- so mabye either korn members heard primus or primus heard korn er sumthin but that ^ is not a factual statment statment. but if i had to guess primus has the better argument ther cuz they came out first so but who knows

I'd have to listen to Balltounge (which I haven't heard in years) to tell you how exact it is.

Primus started in the early/mid 80's and Too Many Puppies was the first song Les wrote for the band (hence him muttering "El Sorbante number one" at the end of the song on Frizzle Fry).

Les is friends with them, so my guess is he isn't too offended by it

Alot of bands copy beats or melodies, Dream Theater takes alot of tool's stuff, and look at punk. A good chunk of it is the same.

But what Korn did was the unthinkable. They managed to not only take the beat from Primus, but use this beat, or close to this beat in every song, and still sell records. And to my surprise (yeah right), they actually managed to make this melody a piece of garbage. Now that is F**** up.

I like some of their stuff, but man they are boring. Doctors should precribe a daily dose of Korn for those who have lack of sleep, because damn, they are dull.

They even ripped off of creed. Compare the chorus of "Alone I Break" (Korn) with "My Own Prison" (Creed).

NONE of korns song sound the same - and yes alot of bands inspire eachother - BLIND and PUPPIES was a little ridiculaous but wether u hate it or not is an opinion - and what r u talking bout they used the same beat in every song - yer pretty much dumb ..am i alowed to say that?

Haha, yeha you can say anythign you want. But to say that Korn's songs DO NOT use the same beat in every song is just idiotic. I have never seen them out of a 4/4 or 3/4 timing. Most of the time they are slamming down on their open B note. And Most of the lyrics are whiney, and explaining some sort of anger that one of the band members hold inside.

With those characteristics, how CAN you be unique in anyway.

Very ture, you ALWAYS hear that B note shaking in all if not most of their songs. Yea, they still are an okay band, bout how about some mixing up a little.

uh no **** what do u think all bands do - they strum the E chord or d b a whatever over and over with some beat with it - it's head banging factor - it's in all metal - metallica slayer bla bla bla - they still put good musical parts to ther songs as does metallica slayer ... just not as hard uh riffs

Really? Well, even playing guitar or piano is just pushing buttons so to speak. Buttons that produce sounds that progressively increase in pitch by a semitone from button to button. Having a bunch of buttons is one thing, making them produce coherent noises that can hold someone's attention, on the other hand is an entirely different story.
Dude, it's not like drum machines produce AN ENTIRE VERSE when you press one button! As a matter of fact, the fact that the beats on a drum machine aren't all that different (how many octaves does a drum machine have, can you play harmonics on one, or pull a hammer on-oxymoron there!) makes it all the more difficult to worl with and be interesting at the same time. It's a bit like if your guitar had two strings and three frets. You keep saying it's easy, take the many suggestions given to you to actually try it out, and come back to us with how it went. And we'll want an MP3 file so we can hear how you really can be "badass" (in view of rap's low standards).
[quote=chris] I never said rap isn't music...
(somewhere on page 11 of this thread).
There is this movie, I think it's called The Heist, where this short Italian actor ( I keep forgeting his name, he is called De' Something) calls a dude a "contrary mutherf*****". I wouldn't want to insult you, especially in view of how one good Doc doesn't like profanity used on others, but if it wasn't for this, I think that description would work very well in this instance.
