O.K. i know im gonna sound stupid and i know im probably copying another thread but anyways. im just curious how to make a cool solo sound.i know a wah-wah does a prety good job at that but how do you make a quitar screetch? i dont think that the corest term for it but it will have to do. :o :o :o

I think you're talking about a pinch harmonic. To do a pinch harmonic you crank up the gain, fret a note, then pick the note and touch the string lightly with you thumb as soon as you pick the note. That isn't a very good explanation but it is the best I can do without showing you...someone else might be able to tell you better. Oh and it helps if you bend the note as you pick it.

Yeah full volume on the guitar and full volume on pre amp { distorton channel}
I tend to hold the pick with finger and thumb - the edge of the pick up against the second finger - somehow as i pick, the fleshy first knuckle of the second finger catches the string producing a harmonic.
A mate of mine uses the nail of the second finger
Works well combined with a left hand vibrato

i was taught pinch harmonics by basically "choking up" on the pick. that way your fingers graze over the strings as you play.
