Well, my band Havoc Din just got done recording 5 songs in the studio. We went into The Jam Room (www.jamroomstudio.com) in Columbia, S.C. These guys do a great job. Anyway, it was great playing around with the house equipment. They have a Marshall JCM 800 that is modified in the gain stage, and let me tell ya, it's the greatest sounding amp I've ever heard. The engineer/owner, Jay, said he can't remember how many hundred's of times he's been offered the chance to sell it. I got a fat tone by recording one track with a Gibson flying V through the Marshall, then overdubbed with my Music Man EVH through a Soldano Hot Rod 50. I did all my lead's with the EVH through the JCM 800. I had recorded in this studio about 10 years ago, but they didn't have near what they have now. We're going back in tonight to work on the mixdown.........

I asked, he said he didn't know exactly, it was already modified when he bought it.....He just said he knows the mod is in the gain stage of the amp.

Oh, our engineer was Steve S. Slavich, here's a little about him. Great guy and a great engineer.

(Has worked for Streeterville Studios in Chicago, IL as House Engineer. He has done projects for Sony Records, Alligator Records and TVT Records for such artists as Wyclef Jean and The Fugees, Johnny Winter, Common, Amanda Marshall, No I.D., B.B. King, Koko Taylor and many others.)

That's awsome dude! I'm dying to get in a real studio, but with my current band situation, it would just be a waste of time and money :( . Hopefully we'll get to before too long, because we're righting some pretty cool music. We just have several issues that need to be rectified first.

Will you be posting any of the songs, or are you going to keep us in suspence until ya'll make it big ;)

Okay, I talked to another guy there in the studio, and he said the JCM800 has an extra 12ax7, that's all that he knew....

Yeah, I'll post a couple of the songs when we get done with the mixdown and mastering....probably be a week or 2. We're working on a website, so hopefully that will up and running in a couple of weeks also.

I did try leaving my JCM900 there and taking the 800. What? It's an even trade........ha!

Okay folks, after many weeks of waiting to get back in to do our last mixdown, we finally have it complete. Ended up doing 6 songs instead of 5. The 6th song was a jam we do called Alone, we actually just jammed it out in the studio and hoped for the best. It turned out pretty good considering it ended up being about a 9:30 long song......We didn't do any editing to Alone except we added a few effects on the vocals and solo's. No cutting out bad notes or fixing them, no overdubbing guitar's, etc....we wanted to keep it as a jam like we would sound live, with mistakes left in it and all.....actually not many mistakes, especially for a 9:30 long jam. I'll be posting some MP3's soon for everyone to criticize....The website got put on the backburner for a little while, but I'll post the MP3's on Garageband.com. I'll let everyone know when they are posted.....

We weren't really only a time schedule or anything....We went in and it took about 9 hours to record the 6 songs. We went straight through and recorded all 6 songs, then went back and overdubbed extra rhythm guitar tracks, solo's, and vocal's on 5 of them. The overdubbing is what takes up a lot of time. Then the mixdown took about 5 hours all added up over a few day's. So all added up, we spent about 14 hours in the studio.

As soon as I get some MP3's created, I'll be posting 'em.........

Can we upload mp3's on this site now? Or do I still have to provide a link?

Unfortunately we still have to get them housed however I think there are a bunch of sites (like songramp) that will do it for nothing. They can also provide useful free exposure !

Sounds kind of like Garagebands.com. On this site, you can review and criticize songs that people have posted. You can either pay to post a song yourself, or you can get a credit for each review that you do. After so many credits, 8 I think, you can upload a song for free. It's pretty cool in that it has a ranking system, kind of like a top 10 list, but much longer, in the thousand's. The review's are done by misc. people, so there is no biased opinion on the songs..........You can't pick a song to review.

Okay folks, here's a link to listen to Diseased....One song off of our C.D. For some reason, the lo fi version works, but the hi fi doesn't yet. When I clicked on hi fi, it say's the song hasn't been cleared yet, to wait 24 hours (they make sure the music is original), so hopefully the hi fi version will work tomorrow. The lo fi version is pretty crappy in terms of the quality.

I'll be uploading a couple more, I'll keep you all posted.

The second my band left the recording studio where we made our demo, we drove to "Number One China Buffet." Delicious.
