just wondering if anyone had any words of wisdom. I'm considering getting either a jem or a PRS. i only have an ibanez JS100 right now and am gigging a lot so feel its the right time to invest in a proper gid guitar.
i use the floyd rose style tremolo quite a lot but not so often that it'd ruin the songs not to have it.
do u think i'm best just to try the guitars intensly so that i choose by how they sound when i play them?
sorry if this is a really crappy question but i'm in need of some im-partial advice.....any advice would be great. :)

Personally I hate Ibanez (Im not saying they are bad, I just don't like em).

I do have a PRS CE24 and it is by far the nicest guitar I have ever played let alone owned. It sits next to a Les Paul Classic, a couple of Strats and a Jackson so it is not like it is the only axe I have ever picked up !

Me Id get the PRS and not give the Jem another thought !

thanks for your advice man.....the ibanez is slightly cheaper but i suppose when your talking about guitars like these one should view it as an investment as chances are you'll have it for the rest of your life. Steve Vai is my hero and i love the sound the guitar produces but i hear so many great stories about PRS, i'm just lost as to what to do.
i think i'll probably just try out both guitars until i'm sure whats right for me.

would you say the PRS is suited to all styles?

I don't know about all styles but it suits me very well and I play Metal to blues to punk to country.

Sounds great through a pod as well !!

It is not a strat or a LP. It is more a thing in its own right so don't take the people who say.."its trying to be an LP and fails badly", that is just bull, very much like the Ed Roman "Heel from Hell". Strait out of the brothers Grim !

It is easier to play and lighter than a strat or an LP. Getting up to the 17th+ fret is a breeze.

The stock PUs are also lovely on the CE 24 (don't know about the 22 though there is a guy called PRSplayer (guess what he plays !) who has a 22 custom and he could probably tell you. I have heard MP3s of him playing it and it sounds nice.

Mabey I have a distorted view of PRS's,but they seem extremly overpriced.

A brand new PRS 24 would be awsome, but I would be afraid to touch the thing, let alone take out to a gig or something.I'm sure they are super guitars, but it seems like your paying for the name...

Would someone enlighten me to PRS's?Ive been tempted to bite the bullet for a while and save for one,but then I think I could get like 3 brand new schecter blackjack/hellraisers and put sperzels on them and still be way under the price of a PRS.

PRS' are nice guitars. I've played all different kinds of models, as a buddy of mine is obsessed with them and had about 4 on hand.

They play nice and have a good sound.

On the other hand, I love Ibanez. The necks on the Ibanez' feel great to me, nice and thin with easily accessibly frets. My dream is to own a JEM 7VWH. You get DiMarzio Evo pick ups in the JEM as well.

Instead of asking for opinions, you should go try out each model and see which one YOU like best. Play them both, give them both a good run and see which one feels more comfortable to you. Try other models too, something else may suprise you.
Sometimes I hit notes only dogs can hear.

I have played a few ibanez's and a few PRS's at my local shop.

But due to me being left handed there isnt alot to choose from.
I liked the way the ibanez look, but like Doctor said, the necks arnt that great. And the PRS's are good overall I think, and come with a good pickup.

It is also worth remembering there are some real deals to be had on ebay. There is an element of risk however if you end up with a dog you can always re-sell it !

I got a Jackson DKMG for 400 bucks (normally sells at 750 or so). There was a little cosmetic damage and it needed a little TLC however it all worked out in the end ! i also snapped up a Gibson Studio LP for about 550 bucks, another bargain.

For me personally, Ibenez just doesn't do it for me. They just don't feel right. Plus I despise a Floyd Rose. As Chuck mentioned about the Schecter Blackjack's, I have one of them also, and there is no comparisson between it and the PRS. Both are different beasts. The Schecter is a very nice guitar, and well worth the money, but it just doesn't have what the PRS has. My PRS is a custom 22, and I fall in love with it every time I play it. Mine has the wide fat neck carve which isn't really all that fat. It's only slightly bigger than the Blackjack neck. The quality of the guitar is fenominal when compaired to other guitars in it's price range. It's tone is also all it's own. Nothing else is like it. Even with that being said, I can pull off almost any sound/style I want with this guitar. If you've never played one, you defanately need to spend a little time with it to make sure it's what you want, because they're not for everybody. But, for me, my PRS has all the mojo I could ever want :D

I really like my DKMG, and it does metal really well. I wouldn't try to play blues on it as I figure horses for causes however in general I think it is a fun axe.

If there was a fire it wouldn't be the first one I grabbed but that is just me !

Oh come on...who wouldn't like a jackson USA soloist(yes, there is a fixed bridge/tune-o-matic model)? They are the original 'super strat'.

Speaking of mojo, has anyone ever played a parker?I alway's wanted to play one,but ive never come across any.
