Hii im kind of new to electrical guitar and i want to buy one and a good amp.
I´ve been searching for some and i my style of guitars are the Les Pauls models and hollow body guitars but i think ill buy an hollow body cause i really like the sound of it!
The music that i usually play are mostly some old Chet Atkins stuff, some blues and jazz licks almost everything on fingerpicking.

Now for the amp is the big problem cause i dont know anything about those and i asked a friend for help so he told me that i should buy a tube based amp cause those are really great amps. I know tube amps are expensive but i just wanted a good small amp just to practice at home. It doesnt need to have a good volume but it has to have a good sound and i want a small one!
I have 450 € to spend on the guitar and amp so pls could anyone help me ?

Well you could start with one of these:

Be aware that hollow bodies are notorious for generating feed back.

As far as amps are concerned, how about one of these:

Thanks for the aswer as for the hollow body guitarsi didnt know that most of them had that problem.

The amp looks great to me only one problem is that it is still a bit expensive since i need 450€ to buy a guitar and a amp but well a friend of mine told me it doesnt matter if u have a good guitar if your amp sucks so do you think i should spend more in a amp or a guitar.

Since i like the les Paul guitars wich one would one recomend to me ?

I have played crappy guitars through nice amps and, well they sound crappy !!

I'd maybe have a look at Epiphone LPs however you may be able to get away with a much cheaper amp though it will be solid state ! You can always upgrade one or the other later one.

The Epis don't have such good quality control. It is possible to get a really nice one however it is also possible to end up with a dog. Common problems are things like cracked neck joints (cracked housings to be more specific even in models being sold s new. Consequently it is very important to play / try the very same one you will take home with you.

Second hand is also an option. The Gibson Studio LPs are very nice. I had one and thought it was excellent. You can pick one up for about 5-700 USD second hand. It is also possible to pick up a practice amp (upgrade later) for very cheap. I think PRSplayer is selling a second hand 10 W Marshall solid state in the gear section. Worth checking out !! I have bought gear of PRSplayer before and he is a good man !!

I also see TeleMaster is selling an Epi LP. MAybe worth emailing both of them and seeing what shipping would cost.

I am selling the Epi LP for sure....

I was thinking, you don't seem to have much money to spend, maybe you should save up for a bit and get a reasonable guitar and a reasonable amp, instead of a crappy something and a good something.

Hey i know they are crappy but remember it will be my first electric guitar so before i really great one i just want to buy a cheap that isnt too bad just to get the taste of it. I will not spend more in my first electric guitar i really prefer to buy another later in the future when i understand more about them.

What i really wanted is something to begin with but not so crappy, something like the begginers absolute electric guitar combo!

The amp I have for sell is a Marshall MG10cd. It is a 10 watt solid state, 2 channels, with a 6.5" speaker. The clean channel sounds alot like a pushed tube amp when turned up past half way, and the overdrive channel is very versatile. It's a very simple amp and you can plug a cd player into it to jam with. Check This thread out to see my for sale post. I've also heard some good things about the Roland Cube series amps. They come in a few sizes and are very versatile. Also, the Pignose G40V is supposed to be a good amp for the price and it's tube. Check it out here. Hope you find what you're looking for.

Traynor amps are amazing tube amps and they are much cheaper than fender. Check them out at www.yorkville.com.

Go to "Products" and then "Guitar Amps"

just a little thought here, i myself bought a moderate priced guitar (more than most starter guitars but less than the really really great ones) as a starter guitar. i bought a whatever amp, just something for sound. its kind of a safeguard as i think about it now, since i love playing it but if i ever lose the will to play my guitar; the greed kicks in and tells me i didn't spend $$$ just to not play it anymore.

just a thought.

just my 2 cents but what I'd do is get a moderate priced guitar.. go to the local music shop and mess around for a while with guitars you can afford. Don't even walk by something you don't think you're going to be able to pay for because if you really like it, then you're going to be shooting for something that plays like that.

I personally bought a Fender tex mex fat strat and I love that axe.. but be careful because they don't all play the same. Or you may want a tele because of the chet atkins, picking and finger style. The feedback will happen with a hollow body if you're playing loud. Other than that, just don't kill the sound of the guitar (if you choose a hollow) with distortion. you want the tone of the wood and pickups to shine thru.

Now for the amp. If you go and blow $350, sorry, have no clue what that translates into for your currency. you'll only have $100 for an amp... I'd do what the PRS man says (at least I think it was him) and grab a roland micro cube. I think they're like $115 us dollars and they really are amazing. The whole thing is about the size of a Nintendo Game cube and the sounds you can squeeze out of them are amazing.. it has a headphone jack, a few effects built in and can be used as a preamp. A buddy of mine used to use one in an open mic and it sounded great next to everything else that was there and it's only 2 watts or something like that..
here's the link
http://www.roland.com/products/en/Micro-CUBE/index.html

good luck and remember, don't settle and really look around and try things before you put your cash on the table. It's important that you really enjoy your instrument because at this stage of the game it's all about how far you want to take this.... A quality guitar will make a difference.
Either way, let us know how you make out.

Man the best thing to do is to spend a day or two visiting some guitar stores and play as many as you can. It is, sometimes a good idea to leave your bank cards at home that day as you are wanting to find guitars you like not bring one home.

Then have a think.

Then go check out the ones you think you liked and get the best one.

The www can be a good price guide but unless you know what you are looking for it can just be confusing.

Same with amps.

Thanks to you all for helping me im now less confused about this :)

I decided that a should look around stores and try as much as i can just to see wich one will "feel" better

As for the hollow bodys i didnt know they caused feedback on high volume so thanks for the info. Since the hollowbodys are not too good to use with distortion so ill guess i have to pass those cause i really want a versatil guitar to play sometimes clean ( Chet Atkins) and sometimes with distortion ( Queen, Metallica, .... )

So ill guess ill look around stores and try different style guitars to find wich is "THE ONE!" :p
