If I were to replace the stock pickups in my Mex. Strat, what is a good upgrade? I'm looking for a fat sustained blues sound. Seymour Duncan has a neat thing online where you can listen to the different pickups in all positions but I don't really know how they might sound in the mex. strat. I liked the duckbuckers. Anyone use them? Texas specials? I want to fatten and warm up the strat tone but not lose the natural sound, the wet springy snap of the strat.

I would recommend changing all 3 pickups. I don't have a strat, but I've played lots of 'em. I really like the Fender Custom Shop Texas pups. Smokin' hot and they really have a nice tone to them.

fender vintage noiseless'll do the job for good, fat blues sound.

are you looking for a humbucker sound or keeping the single coil tone?

if you want humbuckers...the duckbuster is good..i also like the JB jr's.
okay...my post is done...goodbye.

Yea the Fender Noiseless pickups are REALLY good.

But if you want a popular name brand just to be cool  try the DiMarzio Virtual Heavy Blues DP403

Since when was Fender not a popular name brand?

Thanx for the input you guys, the fender vintage sound like a good choice for a set. Any experience with the hot rails? I appreciate the response.

*warning this is gonna sound redundant*

the hot rails sound like a nice, hot humbucker...if you're going for a heavier rock sound out of your strat and don't want to do the wood work to make your guitar fit a humbucker, i'd say the hot rails are a nice choice. my personal favs are the jb jr's but that's because i like a little less hot humbucker sound.....more medium/vintage sounding.
