I am probably answering my own questions is asking the, but I am building a Strat and need to decide whether to go tremelo bridge or fixed bridge.

My considerations:

I never used the tremolo on the Strat Squier -- partly because I never developed a good technique and partly because it was so easy to go out of tuen, i was a fraid to touch!

I am fastidious about tuning and I don't want to be fiddling with tuning all the time.

All ths might lead my easily to go with a fixed bridge, but I want a sanity check on whether it would be very unStrat-like to have a fixed bridge. I do not plan to ever sell the guitar to resale is not an issue.
Have tremolos improved to the point where they go not go out of tune? as far as teh fixed bridges, I am looking at a hipshop.
Thanks for any advice.

If you are particular about tuning, stick with a fixed bridge, they aren't "un-strat" like, the traditional style vibratos are always going to be a compromise, and you probably would wind up not using it any way, so why bother with one, were you thinking about using the new Hipshot Hardtail bridge? That is a very nice looking and well built piece of hardware IMO..............

Another thing to remember is that you will get a nicer tone and much more sustain from a hard tail. I'm looking to modify all three of my strats to get rid of the trem. I haven't decided on how I'm going to do it yet however I haven't ruled out either...

1) taking the Lordathestrings rout and having a brass block machined to fill the trem cavity (though this involves finding some one who can make me one)

or

2) Fling the cavity with something else that is easier to use

or

3) getting a new body.

If I want to whammy away well I have a guitar with a FR on it which doesn't have the stratty twangy tone I like but will stay in tune after trem abuse !

Confirms my sense of what to do -- go with fixed.

Sorry for all the typos on the first post. It was early...
