Another thing to remember is that you will get a nicer tone and much more sustain from a hard tail. I'm looking to modify all three of my strats to get rid of the trem. I haven't decided on how I'm going to do it yet however I haven't ruled out either...

1) taking the Lordathestrings rout and having a brass block machined to fill the trem cavity (though this involves finding some one who can make me one)

or

2) Fling the cavity with something else that is easier to use

or

3) getting a new body.

If I want to whammy away well I have a guitar with a FR on it which doesn't have the stratty twangy tone I like but will stay in tune after trem abuse !
