Hey I need a new amp that I culd use on stage or at a small local show.

Right now all i've got is a Fender Frontman 25R (25 Watt). I really do like the distortion and this little thing actually doesnt get drowned by the drums, but I'm gonna get more serious so i need a more serious amp. I play alot of metal and hard rock, but of course enjoy some good sounding solos (which i definately need to get better at by the way), and i need something that can play without any distrotion or lead and without giving bad feedback or blowing itself. I would really really like to keep it under $300 (i'm ok with used equipment) but if that isn't possible just get me as close to that price as possible. Help please?

I've seen a few fender amps on ebay go for around $200, they're usually between 100-200 watts. would those be any good for my purposes??

I had an AVT65r before getting the MG15MSII (not bad but defiantly a practice amp) and then the TSL100 (w/ 4 x 12 cab total monster! ).

Personally I didn't like the avt's sound but that is just me !

Remember to try before you buy !!

Anyone know anything about this amp? think it'd be good enough for outdoor gigs? And is there any chance that you know anyone who is selling one for cheaper than that? (by the way that one has free shipping)

I had an amp just like that for a little while. It was pretty good from what I remember. The speakers would fart out if played too loud, but some better speakers would solve that problem.

dr. simon the one you had a link to (120 Watt fender) ended at $100.00. BUT, the reserve wasn't met so the sale wasnt made. Yeah i've been checking ebay, i've seen some good ones betwenn $189-$245. then there's $40 s&h. the 212R that i'm looking at will be $300 new with no s&h, so unless i find something under $200 on ebay i'll just buy new.

the 212R has 2 75 Watt speakers and it's set at 100 Watts so i think it should be fine. am i right? i read up on some reviews and there were like 60 good reviews and 2 bad ones.

This is the exact amp I had here . I don't know anything about the 212R, so I can't realy answere your question accurately. If I had to choose between the Ultimate Chorus, or the 212R, I would choose the UC. Or, if your not dead set on Fender, I also had a Marshall AVT275 which you can see here . And I must say, that was one unreal loud amp, with tons of tone. The only thing I didn't like about the amp, was the reverb, but most amps reverbs aren't all that great. I don't thing you would be going wrong with any of the amps. Just depends on if you need the extra effects or not I guess.

There are 3 companies that i will trust for amps. Fender, Marshall, and Peavey. nothing else, those are the ones i like.

The Marshall AVT275 is still going to be pretty high running new at $900 and used between $500-$600.

The Fender Ultimate Chorus (not ultra chorus) will run $600 new, and between $220-$350 used.

You could also look for a Peavey Special II 2x12 which will run $530 new, and I can't find one used, so I'm not sure about a used price, but I would say between $200-$300. I haven't played this exact amp, but I have played some of peavey's transtube series amps and they sounded very good. Plus it's got 3 channels.

I don't think you would be going wrong with any of these amps. It just depends on if you need the built in effects or not, and how much you want to spend.

Personally I would probalby go with the Peavey. I've been using Peavey gear for a while now, and have never had any issues with them, I like haveing 3 channels, I've had the other 2 and I like trying things new, built in effects usually aren't quite up to par with my standards(however, the chorus on both sound great), and lastly...that Marshall was a real backbreaker to try to lug around.

Hopefully you'll find the right amp for yourself soon. I would also suggest going to Harmony Central and search through some of the reviews of these amps before making a final decision. Good Luck! ;)

well it doesnt really need a large amount of built in effects, just the average gain and reverb etc. i have a Zoom 606II sound effect pedal so it all works out. and yeah it sounds like if i get a Peavey or Marshall i'll definately have to get used. is the overall quality too big of a diffrerence on a used amp?
