Gotta Try It #9

Epiphone Ltd. Ed. Joe Bonamassa “Treasure” Firebird-I - Retail  $800 to $900 depending on the model

The new Epiphone Ltd. Ed. Joe Bonamassa "Treasure" Firebird-I Outfit was closely modeled after Joe's original 1963 Firebird. Joe worked closely with Epiphone's legendary luthiers in Nashville, Tennessee to recreate his rare single pickup Firebird that was made in the first year of the guitar's production at the Epiphone & Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

The new Epiphone Ltd. Ed. Joe Bonamassa "Treasure" Firebird-I Outfit features a Mahogany body with a 9-piece Laminated Mahogany/Walnut neck with a period-correct early 1960s Rounded "C" profile measured after Joe's original. Epiphone improved on the vintage neck design by including a dual action adjustable truss rod. The Firebird was the first electric guitar to feature "thru-neck" construction along with the iconic Reverse Firebird™ body shape. The neck has a Rosewood fingerboard with a 14" radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, classic "Dot" inlays, and a 24.75" scale length.  The guitar features the ProBucker™ FB720, a one-of-a-kind faithful recreation of the original early 60s Firebird pickup. Plus Kluson®'s superb re-issue of the original Firebird/Banjo style tuners! The "Treasure" Firebird-I comes in two color finishes, a classic Tobacco Sunburst and Polymist Gold exclusive to Joe's Signature Firebird. The historic-styled white and black-layered pickguard has the classic "Firebird" logo.   A Premium custom gigbag is included as well as a Hand-Signed Certificate of Authenticity signed by Joe Bonamassa. Providence Sonic Drive SDR-4R – Retail $199 in the U.S

Providence is excited to reissue the Sonic Drive this fall as Sonic Drive SDR-4R for a limited run. Based on the old SDR-4 which was the most praised version, we retained the circuit that affects the sound while using updated parts. A full and vibrant sound can be realized without being masked by the sound of other instruments in a band environment.

Features:

• An Overdrive with greater presence: The Providence Sonic Drive mainly targets rhythm guitarists. However, the overdrive can be used for rougher playing, and can enable the feelings of the player to be expressed. Even with distortion, the tonal balance from the 1st string to the 6th string is well defined. However, with this rough, edgy sound the mid to high range is especially emphasized.

• Fat Switch: The new fat switch provides low-range control. Turning on the fat switch increases the low-range gain, resulting in a fatter sound.

• S.C.T. Circuit: In a normal true-bypass circuit, the audio signal passes through two switch contacts when in bypass mode. But in the Sonic Drive, the audio passes through a single contact. The result is higher sound quality and reliability.

• High-Brightness LED & LED lens: The LED in the Sonic Drive features an extremely bright LED that helps to see the pedal is turned on or off even from far out.

Supro 1610RT Comet Amp – Retail Price $1,349

The Supro 1610 Comet is a high-gain, low-wattage 1×10 combo with reverb, tremolo and switchable power. Designed to act as a go-anywhere companion to your favorite guitars, this lightweight tube amp cranks out 6-Watts or 14-Watts of screaming hot vintage tone with an on-board option to drench your sound in tube-driven reverb and tremolo.

The preamp found in the Comet delivers warm, blooming clean tones up until 12-o-clock on the volume knob. Past noon, the Comet’s voice rolls over into Supro crunch, giving way to a singing, violin-like overdrive at full volume. The Comet is remarkably high-gain for a vintage flavored amp and it nails that sweet-spot without being too loud for comfort.

The Comet’s vintage correct tremolo effect occurs in the preamp, before the reverb. This 12Ax7-based tremolo circuit allows for wider overall speed range and a deeper effect as compared to our louder models where the tremolo happens in the power tubes, after the reverb.

The power-amp found in the Comet uses a single 6L6 tube with switchable plate voltage to achieve studio and practice friendly 6 Watts or a more robust 14 Watts for stage use. The overdrive that occurs within the Comet’s “single-ended,” Class-A output stage is rich in even-order harmonics and soaked in tube compression. True to the legacy of the original, microphone-friendly Supro combos, the Comet’s exceptional dynamics and ultra-low noise performance make it an ideal recording amp.

The Comet is dressed in 1959 Supro cosmetics, with Black Rhino Hide tolex, black piping, white welting and a gold faceplate. Similar in construction to our award winning Black Magick and Supreme amplifier models, there is no beam blocker in front of the Comet’s custom-made CR10 speaker, facilitating maximum throw and crystal-clear treble response from this compact all-tube masterpiece.

A matching 1700 BD12 loaded, 1×12 extension cabinet can also be hooked up to the Comet, bringing the overall speaker impedance load down to 4-ohms to deliver maximum punch and additional stage volume for gigs. The 1610 Comet, and the entire line of Supro amps is hand-assembled by Absara Audio in Port Jefferson, NY, USA.  For more information visit http://suprousa.com/1610RT-comet/
