Bobby Womack: Force Of Soul That Will Live Forever

Soul Legend dies at 70

He came into this world as Robert Dwayne Womack, and was instantly thrown into the world of music. Perhaps his musical imprint in the world was set in stone having been born into a family of musicians. But a seven decade career? Bobby accepted his fate and then some.

In the span of his career, Womack was famous for writing classics like "It's All over Now" and "I Can Understand It". But what made his talent so special, was his ability to also perform as well as he wrote. His most notable hits include, "Lookin' For A Love", "That's The Way I Feel About Cha", "Woman's Gotta Have It", and "If You Think You're Lonely Now". That's just to name a few...

His humble beginnings stemmed from a gospel group background back in his hometown of Cleveland. From his early success as a teen, opportunities for collaborations with major recording artists like Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, and others sprouted. It's clear today more than ever, that his musical genius was that magic touch that made so many great songs the iconic hits we remember today.

With today's somber announcement of his death, it's hard to believe that such a presence in the music world is now gone. But his passion ran deep and is instilled in the roots and origin of true R&B, Soul and Rock & Roll. Through his lyrics and his voice, he continues to inspire those that also have the undeniable thirst to share music with the world.
