Steppin' Out

Description

This song features one overdriven electric guitar playing killer licks in Clapton's distinctive style overtop the 12 bar blues form.

The intro starts off the tune by establishing a mean groove with a call & response between the guitar and the band with horn punches. The main section of the tune features plenty of guitar soloing, laying back only once for one round of organ solo before launching into more classic licks. The song ends with the intro riff played to bookend the arrangement perfectly.

In the following lessons, we'll talk about a swinging blues feel, the 12 bar blues form, and some textbook British blues soloing. We are in the key of G major, with a 4/4 time signature, at a tempo of 180 BPM.
