Description

In the 1970s a wave of rock bands rebelled against the introverted and virtuosic music that came before them with some hard-hitting, fast-paced and unapolegetic music known as punk rock. Punk was not purely a musical phenomenon since it also embraced fashion and political views, but the music was all about attitude and energy.

Regardless of whether you ever plan to venture into this style of music there's a universal lesson to be learned from the simple DIY guitar playing, songwriting, and even record production they used: don't over think it. Just play and use whatever chords and tools you know to make a statement that matters to you!

This sub-genre was characterized by bands like The Ramones, Sex Pistols, Black Flag, The Clash and many others, and the legacy has been carried on by bands like Green Day, Rancid and many more. In this tutorial we're going to break down and play through a practice tune with this sound, so let's get to it!
