Description

Before we start digging into all the great guitar parts in this song, let's briefly talk about the gear and the tones I'll be using for the different parts. For the main riff and rhythm guitar I'll be using my Telecaster on the bridge pickup and I'll be running that through a modeled fender amp with the volume and the treble cranked so it's both significantly overdriven and very bright sounding. On top of that I have a tiny bit of spring reverb coming from the amp as well.

For the part that's originally played on the 12-string, I'll also be using my Telecaster, but you can use any guitar you want for that. I'm also using a modeled Fender amp for this part, but my tone is a lot cleaner, less trebly and overdriven. This is to ensure that this part stays in the background of the sonic picture and blends in with the mix as opposed to sticking out. To further that effect a little extra I roll off a tiny bit of tone on my guitar here. If you have a 12-string guitar, then you're welcome to use that, but it's going to work just fine on your regular 6-string as well.
