I hope these lessons give you a good introduction to muting techniques and how important they are for all levels of your guitar playing and learning.
Again, it's really important to work muting techniques into your playing as soon as possible. If you do this as a beginner, then it will be a lot easier down the road as you gain knowledge and skill. Your muting technique will become automatic, second nature to you quicker. This in turn will allow you to make progress more quickly and add a layer of polish, precision and musicality to your guitar playing!
Remember that it's necessary to learn how to mute with both hands. Depending on the music that you are playing at any given time you'll want to have both hands ready to mute!
